We started a new series last week "Where is God when..."  answering some of the tough questions that come up in people's faith journey.

Last week we looked at Where is God when I'm suffering?  It is a horrible thing to feel alone when you are suffering through something in life.  It can feel like God is distant at times when you need Him the most.  listen, download or subscribe to our podcast through iTunes at our site www.westshorechurch.info/html/media.html

This weekend we are looking at "Where is God When...He's LATE!!??"  Ever been looking to God for direction, only to feel like He is silent or that He is just saying "wait.  trust Me."  Meanwhile you have deadlines demanding your attention.

Come be a part of our service this weekend and get the full experience!

Blessings,

PE

......................

It seems like the world is full of suffering, and it’s on the increase.  Just recently we saw with the renewed conflict between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza and the suffering that was caused.

Our economy continues to be on life support as millions of people have lost their jobs in the last year or two.    Think about this…what do you pay bills with? Buy groceries with?  Feed your children with?

People have lost everything including their homes.

All you have to do is watch the nightly news to get a new story about suffering in our world.  It can be overwhelming…especially when it hits home and becomes personal.

What about the less newsworthy suffering?  What about feeling abandoned and alone?

What do you do when life suddenly takes an unexpected turn?  You were counting on that job, but then at the last minute it falls through.

Your marriage has been holding on by a thread and then you get served papers…

You know we all have these unspoken scripts about how our lives are going to play out.  One day we’ll get married, have successful
careers, have children, live in a nice house, our children will find a
wonderful Christian for their spouse and have wonderful careers and wonderful children…you know how it goes.  But then life happens.  What then?

What happens when we are confronted with suffering in our lives?  It’s not a question of if, but when!  And why does it seem like God is silent when we need Him the most?

Over the next several weeks we are going to ask and hopefully to some degree answer some tough questions.  Where is God when I am suffering?  Where is God when...He's Late!  Where is God in my sexuality?  Where is God with all the Injustice in the World?  I hope that you make time to join us!

This weekend we will be finishing up a series based on Tolkien's Lord of the Rings books. We have been showing clips of the movies as we look at the parallels to Christianity that are found in these epic tales.

This weekend we are wrapping it up by focusing on "The Rapture of the Church and the Return of the King" We will be looking at some of the End Time events still to be fulfilled in the Bible.

Have you noticed the amount of movies in the last few years focusing on the end of the world?
Have you noticed all the current buzz around the date 2012?
Do you have questions, concerns?
Is the doctrine of rapture and the second coming still relevant today?
Come be a part of the West Shore Church experience this weekend and hear about these events.

Blessings,

PE

Merry Christmas!

We will be beginning a new Advent series this weekend.  Sometimes, perhaps especially this year, the Holidays might be a difficult time for you.  This weekend we will be looking at How to Have Christmas Joy When You Don't Feel Merry.

Next week we will have some special guests with us.  The following week we will have the children's church presentation along with Christmas Scriptures read in several of our people's native languages as we look at how Jesus is the Savior of the World.

Don't forget:
We have weekend worship services on Saturday Night at 6pm as well as Sunday mornings now.
Also, our special one hour Christmas Eve service at 5pm.

Blessings,

PE

Ever heard this kind of phrase, "I believe in God, but..."?

perhaps you have said "I believe in God, but I just don't go to church."

We will be starting a new series this Sunday called "Supernatural."  Are angels and demons real?  Do they still exist?  Is there more to our reality than what we can see and verify with our senses or the scientific method?  You are invited to join us to find out what the Bible really says about these things.

Blessings,

PE

It's 9/11 today. I think all of us remember exactly where we were when we first saw the pictures of a plane hitting the tower...and then a few minutes later another one. We saw bravery and courage that still stands within our memories as a monument and testimony to service and sacrifice today.

I am continuing a series on the Lord's Prayer as a paradigm rather than a script this Sunday and I am going to be examining extending forgiveness to others. In thinking about that and about what day it is today I began to think, "What if as a result of 9/11 we attended to the necessary security issues, but instead of what we chose we as a nation that was founded upon Christian principles had chosen to extend forgiveness instead?" Now of course this is completely hypothetical, but how would the world be different today?

Let me be clear: This is not political commentary and I honor our troops and their service and sacrifice for this country.

But what if... Forgiveness is costly.

I am going to be taking an honest look at what the Bible teaches about forgiveness on Sunday. Is there anything in your life where you have said "I just can't forgive..."

Is there justice in forgiveness?
Is forgiving just letting people off the hook?
Does forgiving someone mean pretending like nothing happened?
Does forgiveness mean going back to the way things were before?

No matter your background, you would be welcome if you wished to attend.

God bless you today.
