Wie sich herausstellt wurde meine Homepage nun offline genommen. Die Entwicklung ist für mich keine große Überraschung, da ich schon seit langem keinen Kontakt mehr zum Hoster habe und auch schon lange nicht mehr auf den Webspace zugreifen konnte um die Seite zu verändern. Ich bemühe mich derzeit um neuen Webspace um die neue Homepage hochladen zu können. Bis dahin wird die Verlinkung auf dieses Blog zurückgesetzt.

Der Bassverstärker ist im Übrigen immer noch nicht da, trotz Wechsel des Musikladens. Aber der Kampf geht weiter. Immerhin hab ich jetzt erstmal wieder Zeit mich darum zu kümmern.

Well, well, so it seems my provider has kicked off my homepage from his webspace. This development is not really that surprising, considering I've lost contact to him and wasn't able to gain access to the webspace in order to change the homepage for a long time now anyway. So I'm searching for a new webspace provider right now. For the time being the homepage will be redirected to this blog.

The bass amp, by the way, still hasn't arrived and I'm really starting to be sick of all the music shops and their excuses. If you want a solid basic modell, and I mean a certain basic modell, than the customer service will do a shit about it.

Anyway, some changes are imminent, so keep your eyes open.

Nach einer mal wieder schier endlos langen Zeit des Wartens habe ich dem Laden nun eine Deadline für die Beschaffen des Bassverstärkers bis zum ersten April gesetzt. Da ich danach aber wieder auf einem Festival aushelfen werde, wird sie sich de Facto bis ca. zum zehnten erweitern. Sollte der Verstärker bis dahin noch nicht da sein, werde ich zum Music Store gehen. Der sollte den auf Lager haben. Dort werd ich auch gleich nochmal nach einem Mikro Ausschau halten und mich mal wegen Digitaldrums erkunden. Auf technischer Seite gibt es eine gute und eine schlechte Nachricht.

Hier die gute: Ich muss nicht mehr taub meine Keyboardparts einspielen.
Und die schlechte: Mehr als Mono im Zweikanalton ist einfach nicht drin, sorry!

Ich habe verschiedene Sachen durchprobiert, aber es wird immer nur ein Kanal aufgenommen, auch wenn ich beide verwende. Deswegen werde ich in Zukunft wieder die Monospur auf beide Kanäle verteilen. Ich denke das liegt einfach an der Soundkarte.

Ich bin derzeit immer wieder dabei bereits geschriebene Text- und Musikfragmente über den Haufen zu werfen und zu versuchen selbige zu verbessern. Außerdem habe ich angefangen an einigen Instrumentalstücken zu arbeiten, die aber nicht über WintherTod veröffentlicht werden sollen.

So, after another, once more seemingly endless, time of waiting I’ve decided to set my retailer a deadline for the first of April. If the bass amp hasn’t turned up until then I’ll simply go to the next bigger music shop and buy it there. I’ll also look for a decent mic (instead of the crappy headset I’ve been using until now) and I’ll inform myself a bit on the matter of digital drums as well. But due to my job (read: Job, not gig!) on a festival that will probably not be the case before April 10th, I guess.

There are good and bad technical news as well:
The good one: I don’t have to record the keyboard parts without knowing what I am playing. Yes, I can finally hear what I’m playing while I’m recording! A major breakthrough! Too bad it’s only a pissy midi-sound though...

The bad news: I can’t get the stereo working. The best I can do is to copypaste the mono sound and have it on both channels, thus simulating a double-mono near-stereo experience. Sorry!

I am constantly trashing texts I’ve already written and I’m always trying to improve the musical scraps I’ve already recorded, but so far nothing has really been formed yet. I hope I will be able to make the new material sound a lot better than the first EP though.

I also started work on an instrumental project.

I hope you celebrated NYE as good as I did.This is another report to show some lifesigns concerning the Winthertod project. So far nothing really new has happened. I started working on some lyrics and some music but somehow I'm stuck in some sort of dead-end. My bass has finally arrived, but the story hasn't met it's end because, unfortunately, I can't work without an amp. Sounds ridiculous? Well, I thought an amp modeller would suffice, but I can't prelisten to the effects as it is now and this is making things very uncomfortable. The funny thing is that now, after I've finally gotten a bass after having waited for it for like almost two years, I still can't use it properly because now I've got to wait for my amp to be finally delivered. And I've already been waiting for over two months for the bloody thing! Honestly, what's wrong with music shops these days? It's a regular peavey bass amplifier damnit, and they can't even recommend me an alternatite amp with the same key features! Maybe I should take a look around. It's not like there's only one shop selling amps in the area, unlike as it used to be in Tübingen.

I still haven't got around the problem with the mono recording, but I want to make the next release better than the last one. The album will have more songs, more variety and I hope that I can also offer more and better music. It will however probably take quite some time and I think it will be well into 2008 until I can release something.

Ich kann euch allen nun verkünden, dass es keine Neuigkeiten gibt. Ich habe leider immer noch kein Geld auftreiben können, sitze immer noch solo am Projekt und da ich derzeit im Urlaub bin wird sich an der Lage bis Oktober nichts mehr ändern. Ich habe das Projekt aber nach wie vor nicht aufgegeben und will nach den Ferien anfangen das nötige Equipment zu holen.

I am here to report that there's nothing new to report. I still can't afford the equipment I need for recording new tracks and trying out new stuff. I am currently on vacation in various towns in the republic there will probably no change involved until at least october. I hope I will be able to buy the equipment next semester along with my bass. Unfortunately it's rather hard gathering money... well, that's life. That's it. No breaking news today and possibly no release at all, which makes me rather disappointed.

Das neue Album, für dessen Aufnahmen ich übrigens immer noch nicht die nötige Ausrüstung zusammen habe, wird ein anderes Konzept haben als bisher geplant.
Im Moment möchte ich die Einflüsse aus Indutrial Metal und Black Metal zwar stärker ausbauen, aber weitestgehend voneinander trennen.

Attention! There's a new concept for the new album for which I still don't have the necessary equipment btw. I plan to improve both musical styles that have influenced me - i.e. Black Metal and Industrial Metal. But I will try to rather separate both of them from each other instead of mingling them. At least that is my plan for the moment.

Immer noch kein Job und immer noch kein Geld für Equipment. Dafür hab ich jetzt aber noch private Probleme. Nachdem die Homepage die letzte Woche offline war ist sie jetzt endlich wieder online. Das ganze hing mit einem Serverumzug zusammen.

Still no job and still no money for equipment. But at least I've got some personal problems to solve now. After the homepage has been offline for the whole last week or so it's now back in its glory. It was offline due to a moving maneuver. I guess we're now on a new server. Gonna enjoy the rest of the day with some mead now.

War heute beim lokalen GitarrenHQ und hab mir erstmal die Kosten ausrechnen lassen von dem Equipment, das ich mir zulegen muss um meine Arbeit fortzusetzen und habe einen ganz guten Deal rausbekommen. Näxte Woche werde ich mich auf die Suche nach einem Job begeben um das nötige Geld anzuhäufen. Die neuen Geräte werden zwar etwas teurer sein, aber dafür auch mehr können. Ich bin gespannt auf die Klangergebnisse die ich damit erzielen werde und auch der lang ersehnte Ibanez-Bass ist dort im Laden VORRÄTIG. Bleibt noch offen wann ich den Job/das Geld habe und die Zeit finde neue Aufnahmen zu machen. Währenddessen setze ich mich in Gedanken bereits mit der neuen Gestaltung des Artworks auseinander.

Today I was at the local guitar shop, which is really huuuge, in order to see which costs I will have to face in the near future, regarding the necessary new equipment for Winthertod. Speaking of which, the new stuff will be able to do more tricks (and will hopefully sound a bit better) but it will also cost me some more. At least they've got the BASS already there and won't need to order it, so I can buy it anytime I want or can. Next week I will look for a job in order to get the money. But in the meantime I'm already thinking about the new artwork designs for the next release.

Der Umzug nach Köln ist geglückt, doch Ruhe ist noch keine eingekehrt. Nach einer turbulenten ersten Woche habe ich noch kein neues Equipment für Aufnahmen zur Verfügung und keinen eigenen Internetanschluss. Winthertod wird weitergehen, aber wann genau, das weiß ich noch nicht. Ich will in Zukunft sämtliches Studioequipment in das neue HQ nach Köln schaffen, damit ich die Aufnahmen an einem Ort vervollständigen kann - allein das sollte dafür sorgen dass die Arbeiten in Zukunft zügiger vorankommen.

In der Zwischenzeit hat das Onlinemagazin "KellerKinderRundschau" einen Artikel über die erste EP "Vor Zeyten giergem Schlunde" veröffentlicht. Ich freue mich über das Interesse seitens der  KKR und hoffe, dass so noch mehr Leute zu Winthertod finden und Gefallen am bisher veröffentlichten Material finden.

Der Standort Köln könnte außerdem die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen, professionellen Musikern (im Gegensatz zu mir) ermöglichen.

A short report:  Moving to Cologne has been successfull, however there are still certain things amiss. For instance, I still lack my own internet connection AND, more importantly, I will now need to buy new equipment in order to make the recording of new music possible. At this moment I don't posess a device which enables me to record my guitar on the computer.

As for the future I've planned to gather all my equipment here in my new HQ in Cologne in order to make fast recording sessions at one place possible. This should speed up the process of recording and giving out new material.

In other news I'm glad to announce that an article about Winthertod's first release, the "Vor Zeyten giergem Schlunde" EP has been released in the german KKR "KellerKinderRundschau" online magazine. I hope it will enable others to enjoy Winthertod aswell. Unfortunately, I'm afraid, the article is available in German only.

Although I really can't give out any exact dates or numbers right now, I can reassure you that Winthertod will continue as a project and that I will release (whether that's good or bad news) further songs in different styles. I've got plenty ideas right now, but at this moment in time I've neither the necessary equipment, nor the time to record anything new.

Es tut mir leid es zu sagen, aber trotz vieler Ideen kann ich meinen Zeitplan nicht einhalten. Die Wohnungssuche in Köln nimmt derzeit den größten Teil meiner Zeit in Anspruch und danach wollen noch zwei Hausarbeiten geschrieben werden. Auch eine Nachprüfung steht mir noch ins Haus. Da ich auch bald das Gerätle zurückgeben muss werden sich erste hörbare Ergebnisse für Hitokiri-Monogatari wohl weiter nach hinten verschieben.

I'm sorry to say so, but it seems I can't stick to my plan of a soon release. Right now I'm engaged in looking for a place to live in Cologne and I also must return the recording device soon. Which means that the release of Hitokiri-Monogatari will take even longer. I'm sorry for that but time can be as scarce as it is precious... I'll use the extra-time gained to improve my ideas.

Dies ist ein Lebenszeichen. Das kommende Album wird wahrscheinlich größtenteils auf japanisch gehalten werden und sich grob mit der Bakumatsuzeit zwischen 1853 und 1868 auseinandersetzen. Ich will musikalisch flexibler und qualitativ besser werden. Ich bin im Moment noch im Prüfungsstress, will mich aber so bald wie möglich wieder dem Projekt zuwenden so dass ich im März erste Aufnahmen fertigstellen und evtl. sogar veröffentlichen kann. Allerdings kann sich das Konzept immer noch ändern.

This is a sign of life to show you I'm still around. The new album will probably be mainly in japanese and will be about the Japanese bakumatsu era which lasted from about 1853 until 1868. I want to improve in both, musical variety aswell as in means of quality (at least a bit). At the moment I am still in the middle of preparing my exams, but as soon as possible I'll turn my attention back to this project so that I can complete at least some songs until march.  The concept may still change. And I don't know if I can really release something in March because I will have quite a lot to do in the upcoming holidays.
