"I'd rather people hear our music than not."
After years of keeping their song catalog away from Spotify, The Black Keys have finally allowed Spotify to make their music available to listeners.
"After five years of struggling with this we agreed to put the keys songs on Spotify. I'd rather people hear our music than not," drummer Patrick Carney explained on Twitter this morning (December 19).

Patrick has previously criticized streaming services for the lack of financial compensation towards artists. And more recently, he blasted artists who had stakes in streaming companies but didn't really fight for the artist's right to be paid fairly.
"A sell out in my book in 2016 is anyone that takes a share in a streaming company who also is an artist and doesn't advocate for fair pay," he wrote on Twitter in June.

Despite The Black Keys drummer's feelings regarding this, the band has agreed to let us, the fans, listen to their music via Spotify. But even though we can finally stream Brothers, Patrick still has reservations regarding the deal.
