Current mood: disappointed

Heavy rain has forced the cancelation of the the first "metal" day at this year's edition of the Rockwave festival, which is being held at Terravibe Park, Malakasa, Greece.
Among the bands that were scheduled to perform at today's (Monday, June 29) event were MÖTLEY CRÜE, W.A.S.P., ARCH ENEMY, MONSTER MAGNET, VOIVOD, LAUREN HARRIS and INACTIVE MESSIAH.
Michael Amott comments: 'As you can see, a lot of rain has fallen over the beautiful city of Athens and its surroundings these last couple of days! We are disappointed that we couldn't play as planned as we were looking forward to it very much. The good news is that we have booked two headline shows in Greece on the 27th and 28th of November. Something to look forward to - we will see you Greek metal heads again soon!!!'

The big news in the ARCH ENEMY camp is that Andy
Sneap (Megadeth, Testament, Exodus, etc.) has completed the mixing and
mastering of the new ARCH ENEMY record, “The Root Of All Evil”. This special
release features a selection of completely re-recorded songs from the first
three ARCH ENEMY albums, “Black Earth”, “Stigmata” and “Burning Bridges”, and
will be released via Century Media Records on September 28th in Europe and
October 6th in North America. Guitarist Michael Amott
comments: “This one took some time to get done, despite the fact that the
actual songs were already written a good few years ago! The album was recorded
at a few different locations locally here in Sweden - produced by ARCH ENEMY,
with Daniel Erlandsson (Drums) handling a lot of the engineering. It was then
sent to Andy Sneap in England for the mixing/mastering and I simply can’t stop
listening to this since I got the final mixes!” In the
light of ARCH ENEMY finding their defining line-up and a bigger worldwide
recognition with 2002’s “Wages Of Sin” album, it has been a logical decision to
look into updating and upgrading the earlier compositions, to be able to
present them in the splendour of a 2009 shape. Regarding further details of the process, Michael Amott adds: “We
basically headed down to our rehearsal studio, got reacquainted with the tunes,
picked out our favorites and proceeded to give a breath of new life to those
early songs, with the idea to have the possibility to re-add them to the live
set and follow up with some touring activity! I’m loving hearing these songs
with a fresh new sound and performance, everyone in the band did a killer job
on it - especially Angela’s vocal performance is astoundingly intense and
brutal and it was also cool to hear Sharlee lay down some great bass tracks on
the early songs! The production and mix is crushing and heavy as hell - it
really makes these old songs shine – it sounds like a brand new thing!”.
More details on “The Root Of All Evil” will be available in
the coming weeks. In the meantime, make sure to catch the band during their
intense festival schedule in Europe this Summer and further worldwide activity
which sees the band play previously re-scheduled dates in Mexico, appear at
Japan’s massive Loud Park festival, visit countries like China, Philippines or
Korea and then also do a headline run in Australia with support by Suffocation
and label-mates Winds Of Plague. Here are all upcoming confirmed dates: ARCH ENEMY – “Summer Tyranny 2009”: 29-June-2009 @

ARCH ENEMY return to Australia for a phenomenal headlining tour to demonstrate to metal heads here what they do best...delivering pure sonic force and ripping us apart with their stunning brand of metal! These melodic extreme metal genre-leaders have become a synonym for success, hard work and pure f**king metal! The stunning chart entries of their last two albums “Doomsday Machine” (2005) and “Rise Of The Tyrant” (2007, charted in over a dozen countries!) have allowed the band to celebrate another peak of their already stellar career. Now, ARCH ENEMY proudly showcase their current strength and musical brilliance by releasing a breathtaking live document of their “Rise Of The Tyrant” touring cycle. Witness it first hand, the sheer brilliance of these melodic metal titans!
Arch Enemy guitarist/songwriter Michael Amott comments: "We're totally looking forward returning to Australia, you know we've missed the fans and the great weather! Although the tours in '06 (w/ Megadeth) and '07 (w/ Machine Head) were amazing in many ways, we haven't played a full headline tour in Australia since our first visit back in 2005. So this is long over due and we are more than ready to attack your shores once again! We can't wait to give you the full 'Arch Enemy Heavy Metal Mayhem' experience! And we already know you - the fans, will bring it...Aussie style! See you all in November!"
In direct support will be New York death metal legends SUFFOCATION. Their fusion of technicality, groove and sheer unrelenting brutality has been imitated but never quite duplicated. And now, with the release of SUFFOCATION’s Nuclear Blast debut “Blood Oath”, their legacy of unrelenting and unique heaviness continues for perhaps the genres greatest band!
WINDS OF PLAGUE prepare to unleash their wrath across the Australia with their sophomore release. The stunning slab of brutality entitled “Decimate The Weak” does exactly that with its razor sharp riffs and sheer intensity backed with a monsoon of angst and inner demons that is just waiting to be expelled on stage.

Michael Amott comments on Latin America tour and postponed Mexico D.F. show
“We’ve had an amazing run of shows down here in South America. We’ve played Venezuela and Colombia for the first time with Arch Enemy and it’s been really killer playing for the fans there, these people live and breathe Metal... It’s inspiring”
"Also returning to Brazil and Argentina again has been great, the fans in this part of the world are so intense, they’re almost louder than the PA…it’s so much fun!”
"Tonight we play Santiago, Chile - I'm sure it'll be a blast, we always have a good time playing here. And as things have turned out, it will unfortunately be the last show on this Latin American tour..."
“Sadly, we've had to cut the tour short, the May 8 Mexico D.F show has been postponed due to the flu chaos and the restrictions that have been put on shows in Mexico D.F over the next days/weeks. We are obviously not happy about this – but it is out of our hands. We are looking at quickly re-scheduling the show and return to Mexico in August. The 2,500 tickets for the sold-out Mexico D.F show are valid for the new date - so hold on to them”
