I wanted to give you all some updates on me and my music.

First, I have been working on a new Autohypnosis album. I've gotten a lot of work done, but there's still much more to do before it's ready to be heard by anyone. Recording music is a very time-consuming process, especially when you're doing it all by yourself. I'll refrain from picking a specific point in the future at which I expect it to be complete, so as not to let anyone down if I fail to meet such a self-imposed deadline, but rest assured that I'm doing all I can to get this music finished. I can't wait for you all to hear it.

After seven years here, I am leaving Greensboro. In mid-July, I'm moving to my hometown of Thibodaux, La. However, I'm planning on that being a temporary move. The more long-term plan is to move to Los Angeles - I hope within six months to a year from now.

I've met some great people in and around Greensboro, and all the truly noteworthy things I've done musically happened here. But I feel like all opportunities in this area have been exhausted, and it's time to move on.

A visit to Los Angeles a month ago confirmed that that's where I want to be, both for the sake of my musical endeavors and my career. Living in Thibodaux in the interim will be a nice break from everything and, I hope, a chance to get a lot of work on new music done.

WEBSITE UPDATES

I've updated the Autohypnosis website, www.autohypnosis.net, in several spots. Most notable are the addition of a video page, which features a video I'm just about to tell you about, and the addition of photos from my most recent gig, the Fashion Rox event.

PAST/FUTURE

This has been a pretty good year for me and my music. I got the debut Autohypnosis CD released, played a few live shows (Fashion Rox was a real highlight) and began work on new Autohypnosis songs. I hope to have a new, full-length Autohypnosis album completed sometime in 2007, although at this point I'm not making any projections about when it might be finished.

Thanks to everyone who's supported Autohypnosis by buying a CD, coming to a live show or posting encouraging words online.

'FRACTURED BEAUTY' INSTEAD OF MUZAK

New York-based musician/producer Andy Chase (Ivy, Brookville) is a fan of the Autohypnosis song "Fractured Beauty." As if that weren't flattering enough, when the clothing chain American Apparel asked Andy to make a compilation CD of some of his favorite songs to be played in their stores, he chose "Fractured Beauty" to be included. So if you shop at American Apparel, you might just hear my voice while you're browsing T-shirts.

WORKING ON NEW MUSIC

I've been quite busy writing songs for the next Autohypnosis album. I've gotten a lot of work done but still have tons more to do. I won't make any promises about when new recordings will be finished, but my goal is to have a full-length album mostly finished by the end of the year.

A COLLABORATION

You can, however, listen right now to a fairly new song that I collaborated on. My very good friend Jason Curtis Cole, who was the drummer in my last band, The Big Secret, does audio production under the moniker The Red Block. A couple years ago, I gave him some vocal tracks and a synth track, and he added lots of instrumental music and created a song out of it all, which was completed earlier this year.

I am excited to announce that in a few weeks I’ll be releasing the debut Autohypnosis. It will be a five-song EP titled “The Surface,” and it’s a mixture of synthpop, trip-hop, downtempo and alt-rock music.

Barring any major problems/delays with the manufacturing plant (where it is being pressed now), it should be released sometime in March. I’ll be selling it online as well as at Autohypnosis live shows.

Those of you who’ve been Autohypnosis listeners will recognize a couple of the songs, but there are some new ones as well. You can listen to four of the five songs from the EP at this profile.

When the CD is released, I’ll be launching a completely revamped version of the official Autohypnosis website – www.autohypnosis.net – where you’ll be able to listen to the entire EP and purchase it (I’m going to be offering a great deal on buying my music through the site).
