hello all
we are back from our north american tour as of about 8 hours ago. despite some difficult circumstances we had a great time and it was a pleasure playing to you all/y'all. hope it won't be long till the next time. apologies to those who turned up to the cancelled shows, we put the word out as best as we could with the short notice and we'll give you information on the rescheduled shows pretty soon.

i've had two hours sleep and now it's time to announce the european tour if you haven't already got the mailout.

***(pointless fact of the day- Beat It by Michael Jackson was one of the first songs I ever learned on the keyboard when I was about 5. I rocked.)***

Hi folks
Wanted to let you know that the rest of the US tour is going ahead as planned. Sadly Gav has had to return to the UK because of a death in the family. Our thoughts, love and sympathy are with him. Thanks for all your good wishes over the last few days and apologies to those who were intending to see us at Alabama and Georgia. Tickets will be refundable but we hope to reschedule the shows for later in the year.

Hi, we’re very sorry about this but I’m afraid we’ve had to cancel the shows in Birmingham, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia which were to take place in the next few days due to some upsetting personal circumstances. Sincere apologies to those that are disappointed by this. We’ll give you further information when we have it.

Yes. We are in Los Angeles where, tonight only, we plan to entertain wildly with our powerhouse performance art at the Henry Fonda Theatre. We truly look forward to seeing many of you.

For those of you who have chosen or been chosen to live elsewhere, you can still get to spend some time with us by clicking on this here link, at which point your browser will take you to our new video for Honey In the Sun!

It's great. You can actually see us travelling in time. If you're attentive enough.

Very best wishes

Kenny

Oh aye, I forgot. You can also see us all dressed up, playing French Navy on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on Monday the 15th June. If your telly doesn't live near there, I'm sure someone lovely will Youtube it.

Well good evening all

Ever wondered what Camera Obscura think about wierd monkey-loving pop conjuror Michael Jackson?

Well so has Paul Morley so he asked us. You can go here and see what happened AND you can watch the band in an exclusive performance of French Navy at the Shepherd's Bush Empire. Investigate HERE

To further your viewing pleasure, here is a series of videos in which Tracyanne talks about the songs on My Maudlin Career and what they mean to her see HERE

If you want to be good, helpful fans you can tell me how many is too many dresses to take on tour, and you can suggest what American fiction I should be taking to pass the time. We will be Workin Day and Night to Rock with You before you know it

Thanks

Hello chaps

we're having a good time just now. really enjoyed the UK shows last week, it was good be out celebrating the album with actual people. Just having a day off for doing laundry then we've got shows in Belfast and Dublin.
We're as happy as you can imagine to have sneaked in to the UK top 40 album chart at no. 32. amazing, thanks to everyone who bought the record.

we're getting quite into winning these days so i hope you can help us out again. the french navy video is the thing to champion and it can be done here http://www.mtvu.com/category/music/the-freshmen/. I have been told that you have to be in the USA to vote but it might be worth a shot anyway... and you can vote more than once. should you fancy developing repitive strain injury, who would I be to stand in your way?

once you've done your work you can reward yourselves by watching this

thanks all

Happy release day!

hope you all enjoy the record and thanks for encouraging us so often.

So, the album is released today, this is also the day that the TV documentary goes out on channel 4 at 00:55 and we have just launched our new website. There are a few bits and pieces still to tidy up but go along to www.camera-obscura.net and take a look. In case you are wondering, it looks GOOD.

The UK tour starts tomorrow in Newcastle. I'm looking forward to our little jaunt on which we will be accompanied by Glasgow's own Attic Lights. They are good at singing harmonies, and fine company at post-gig Travel Lodge soirees. You can find out more about them at www.myspace.com/atticlights.

Had a lot of fun on Jonathan Ross's radio show on radio 2 on Saturday. We gave him some Parisian Macaroons and he made us laugh. Listen again if you have time.

Sorry this is a little disjointed, I am nearly asleep. This tiredness is possibly vaguely connected to last night's little party of ours and you are paying the price. good night ....

Hello and other greetings

I have lots of things to tell you but then I have to go to sleep because it's an early start tomorrow. Off to France to promote French Navy. Do you see what we did there?

Ok first of all, we have decided to have a little party to celebrate the album release. It will be from 8:30pm on Sunday 19th April at Mono, Kings Court in Glasgow. You are all invited. The band will be djing and getting drunk, there will be a raffle, and the album will be on sale after midnight. If we get drunk enough, we'll quite possibly buy copies too.

Another good thing is that we are going to be ON TELLY in a very special little documentary all about us and featuring the wonderful wisdom of gentle, intelligent wonder-journalist Paul Morley saying such nice things about us that we have a permanent blush on. It is called A Band Beginning with C and will be broadcast at 00:30 (tbc) on channel 4 on the 20th April, which as you know, because you are clever and pay attention, is the day My Maudlin Career is released. I don't know if this will be viewable outside the UK but I have had rumours that kind people are going to let it go up on the internet eventually so here's hoping.

And the NME gave the album 9/10 which is quite funny cos they used to steadfastly ignore us.

And we're playing on Jonathan Ross's radio on BBC radio 2 this Saturday.

And we now have an official facebook page though I'm too thick to know how to direct you to it. I'm sure you can work it out...

Night
