Lisa is pleased to announce that her revamped website (www.lisagerrard.com) has now been
launched which includes an online store where you can preview and purchase
Lisa’s highly anticipated new album The Black Opal. The Black Opal is available as an MP3 album, a standard
edition or a deluxe edition that includes artwork, poems, bonus tracks and a
video clip of the Serpent and the Dove. Lisa has recently returned from Sydney where she was
announced the winner of the 2009 Screen Music Award for Best Original Music
Score for her work on the Australian film Balibo. Lisa followed up this
win with another victory last week when she also won an Aria Award for
Balibo. To coincide with the
awards and at the request of many of her fans Lisa has released a re-mastered
version of the Balibo score which is available for purchase from her website. In addition to The Black Opal and Balibo, Lisa has also
released an MP3 album of Come Quietly
following her successful recent tour with Klaus Schulze. We have also just received a shipment
of Come Quietly albums left over from the tour which will be made available via
the online shop very soon! In the meantime Lisa is currently working hard on a major
Hollywood score that is slated for release in 2010. Stay tuned for more news on
this movie in December.
....
Exciting times ahead!

Well it has been a rather eventful few months to say the least since my last newsletter in which I have hired and dispensed with the services of two managers and finally completed and mastered my new album ‘Ark’. The lack of effective management has meant that release and tour dates have had to be put back until early next year but I am happy to announce that I am now managed by an old trusted colleague Colin Wallace who also manages Elizabeth Fraser from the Cocteau Twins. At present we are exploring distribution possibilities for the album worldwide and will update you as soon as we have official release dates to hand.
Also in the pipeline is a 100 date double headline world tour with my old friend Peter Murphy of Bauhaus which is planned to begin next march to coincide with the album release. The tour will commence in South America via Mexico to North America and then on to Europe... I shall be announcing the official dates come this side of Noel.
In the meantime I have made a short promotional film about the making of Ark which you can view at my new webpage http://ark.brendan-perry.com/
The narrative has been translated into several languages for those who are non-english speakers. This new web portal will eventually also become my new webshop where you will be able to purchase special editions and other related artistic offerings.
In the meantime thank you all for your patience, it has been a somewhat frustrating few months for me but as the saying goes sometimes you have to go around the block a few times before you come to the right door!
best wishes my friends
Brendan

I recently had the great pleasure of recording two songs, 'You Never Loved This City' and 'The Nightmare Goes On' for the new Piano Magic album 'Ovations' which will be released 12th October 2009 on Darla (North America & Asia) and Make Mine Music (Rest Of World). CD and 180mg vinyl.
My dear old friend Peter Ulrich from Dead Can Dance also contributes percussion to this beautiful work.

A Rare Dead Can Dance track is now available for free download by subscribing to http://www.brendan-perry.com/ 'A Means of Escape' was the first professional studio recording by Dead Can Dance featuring the original line-up of Brendan Perry (Vocals & Electric Guitar), Lisa Gerrard (Pearl Syncussion), Paul Erikson (Bass Guitar) and Simon Monroe (Drums).
Recorded in early 1982 by the Australian producer, Chris Thompson at Richmond Recorders, Melbourne it captures the early Joy Division inspired wall of sound that became DCD's sonic trademark in the early eighties.
The file is a high quality mp3 - 320kps
Hope you enjoy this rare gem from the DCD archives.

Zazou has sadly passed away last monday after only being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer just a few months ago. He will be sorely missed not only as a dear friend but more importantly as an innovator who brought often seemingly disparate musical entities together to create something truly unique and original in avant garde and world music. See you in the green room dear Z after the show.... xB Hector Zazou 1948-2008 Un Oiseaux Rare
