Sik World Productions has debuted the first episode of their new podcast "Sik Pix: A Taste of Metal" online at this location: http://sikworld.libsyn.com/


The debut episode features new music from DIVINE HERESY, OLD MAN'S CHILD, DEATH ANGEL, MOWER, and others. The podcast will highlight some of the best underground hard rock and metal songs from around the world, and allow subscribers to hear new music first. The podcast is free and can be subscribed to using iTunes, Zune, and other digital music programs.

"I love new music and getting turned on to new bands that I've never heard before, or new tracks from bands that I already like. I'm always looking for new stuff, and sometimes I find things that I think everyone should hear," says Sik World's Jaysun Chall. "The tracks on this compilation are some the most recent batch of songs that I want to make sure everyone gets a chance to hear. The most recent DEATH ANGEL is one of the greatest thrash records I've ever heard and 'Dethroned' is an absolute classic. I thought people who like metal should know that. 'Slaves of the World', the new disc from OLD MAN'S CHILD opened my eyes to the world of death metal and helped me understand a genre of metal I've been trying to get for years. DEATH ANGEL - INTERVIEW W/ SINGER MARK OSEGUEDA
San Francisco Bay Area thrashers DEATH ANGEL played the Jalometalli Festival in Oulu, Finland on Saturday, August 15, 2009 where lead singer Mark Osegueda was recently interviewed. The interview clip can be viewed by clicking here or the image to the upper right.

DEATH ANGEL guitarist Rob Cavestany had this to say about the experience:

"It's great to be back home but we miss Finland already!  What a blast we had headlining the Jalometalli Festival last weekend!  20 years have come and gone since we were last there and the fans were as crazy as they were 2 decades ago.

We played a 95 minute set and it felt like it was over so fast. Time sure does fly when you are having fun.  Special thanks to Ari and all at Full Steam.  Also the entire staff working the festival were totally pro and made for a smooth event. Horns up to each and every one of you!

Last but not least, thank you to all our fans in Finland and beyond that came out to ROCK with us. You rule!  Insane circle pit going from beginning to end of our set!  See you all again when we return next year! Kippis!”

IT SEEMS like every time Death Angel descends upon San Jose, the band is preparing for another overseas tour. In November 2006, Death Angel sold out the Blank Club before heading off to Japan. The following spring, it flattened the place again and then subsequently split for open-air festivals in the Philippines and Europe. This time around, the group's appearance at the VooDoo Lounge precedes yet another European jaunt, where it will promote a brand-new DVD/CD package, Sonic German Beatdown.

DEATH ANGEL have released the following statement in regards to the departure of longtime drummer Andy Galeon:

“As some of you may have already heard, DEATH ANGEL's long time drummer and original member Andrew Galeon has decided that it is time for him to move on from the band.  While we are sad to see him go, we wish him nothing but success.  Not only has he been an integral part of DEATH ANGEL from day one, but he's also family and a friend and we will miss him.  All the best to you, Brother.

As for the future of DEATH ANGEL, THE SHOW GOES ON!  Old friend and long time fixture of the Bay Area metal scene, Will Carroll (SCARECROW, OLD GRANDAD, VICIOUS RUMORS, etc.), will be handling the drum duties for the upcoming local shows in June and the Summer Madness Tour in Europe with KATAKLYSM and KEEP OF KALESSIN.  Will's been jamming with us for over a month now and is tearing it up!  We look forward to hitting the stage with him very soon.  We’ll be performing songs from ‘Frolic…’ and ‘Act III’ that we haven’t played live since back in the day so prepare for a dose of some serious old school thrash!

Thank you all for your continued support over the years.  See you on the road this summer!”

Entitled "Sonic German Beatdown", the package — which came out on April 17 in Europe (to be released in North America July 28th) — includes footage from the 2007 edition of the Rock Hard Festival and a 2008 performance in Adelsheim. As an added bonus, the set includes a live CD.
