Pressrelase from Sensory Records:

-----------

THE DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA To See North American Release Via Sensory Records

Since the release of their debut The Butcher’s Ballroom in 2007 Sweden's DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA have gained a loyal fan base of their own. People have embraced their mind bending mix of metal, opera, swing jazz, and spaghetti-western soundtrack with open arms and they have been perceived as a fresh breath of air in a genre getting more and more stale and formulaic.

DSO’s sophomore effort titled Sing-Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious proves that they are no one hit wonder but are here to stay. The new album is a smörgåsbord of different levels of musical insanity building on the foundation laid down on their debut. The cover art was crafted by acclaimed Swedish illustrator Peter Bergting, most notable for his work with the graphic novel Gangkrig 145; a Swedish #1 bestseller. Touring will begin in September starting with Progpower USA and will continue in Europe later in the fall.

Licensed from Ascendance Records to Sensory Records for North American distribution, Sing-Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious shall be made available to North American fiends on September 22nd.

Here's the cover art for the upcoming Diablo Swing Orchestra album "Sing-Along Songs For the Damned and Delirious", out in Europe on the 21st September. It was made by the acclaimed Swedish illustrator Peter Bergting, most notable for his work with the graphic novel Gängkrig which is a #1 bestseller in Sweden right now.

The album will come in two editions for the stores. The "normal" edition will be a 4-panel digipac containing the CD and a 12 page booklet and a "special" edition, limited to just 2000 copies, in a gorgeous 8 panel digipac containing the CD, a 12 page booklet and a Bonus DVD featuring all sorts of goodies like live footage, behind the scenes, photo albums and whatever else can be crammed in!

A "very special" edition will be available directly from Ascendance by mail order only, with an individually numbered band logo Dog Tag pendant, a set of postcards and a vinyl sticker included with the CD/DVD version. This will be stricly limited to 300 copies and details for pre-order will be on the Ascendance Myspace soon (http://www.myspace.com/ascendancerecords).

Having now heard the full album we can assure you that old fans of the band will not be disappointed at all. It's got all the elements that made "The Butcher's Ballroom" such a success, but they've also built on those themes and taken the sound to new and uncharted territory. In short: You're going to love it!

As previously announced the band will be playing a launch party show in London on October 2nd at the Purple Turtle, Camden. The venue has a limited capacity and tickets are selling fast! I know it seems a long time away but I suggest you get your tickets sooner rather than later to avoid potential disappointment.

Tickets are available in advance from Seetickets . Alternatively you can avoid postage costs and booking fees by buying directly from us at http://ascendancerecords.com/site/ordering-albums . We won't be issuing physical tickets, but we'll keep your name(s) at the door for when you arrive.

Not long until there will be a sample of the new record online now!

So…

Four intense weeks later we’re done with the recordings of the new album. It’s been quite a ride but the results exceeds all our wildest expectations and we really think we have improved on every level with this album. Some of the songs have clear links to “The butcher’s Ballroom” while others.. well they sound …different in a good and definitely healthy way. You’ll all be surprised how well swing, samba, metal, tango, psy trance, Russian folk music, lunacy in general and everything in between go together.

All the session musicians we invited really inproved the end result. For instance, recording backing vocals with members of the In Flames road crew was an experience we’ll never forget.

The mixing will be done 1-14 of June as well as the mastering so you have to be patient for a little long to hear some samples but not for too long now.

All in all 10 songs will be included on the album. Track listing and artwork will be up in a month or so.

Unfortunately the workload we had the last week didn’t allow us to use the video cam as much as we would have wanted to so the footage we have will be saved for the DVD that will be included  in the limited edition of the record.

So now we can’t wait for September to happen so that the touring madness can begin.

Cheers

The album is shaping up and getting closer to completion. We're now working around the clock in shifts to manage to get everything in place but the way the songs are sounding we have so far it's all worth it.

This week we've covered double bass, clarinette, acoustic guitars and some vocals. The electric guitars are almost finished as well so we'll be focusing on vocals the upcoming week and Annloice will start recording her vocals tomorrow.

One week to go!

Strings and low end stuff

Its been another fun, but slightly exhausting week in the studio. We're done with the bass and cello and we also managed to squeeze in some accordion, piano and harmonium and get it all on tape. So far we've been spared from any major incidents and the songs are slowly but surely finding their shape. Next week we'll get started with some of the vocals as well as double bass, timpanis, marimba and clarinette.

You can watch some of the "action" in the link below:
