Here it is....we're super busy, no long blog. Oh yeah, Jeff Tuttle is in an episode of A COOKING SHOW believe it or not, called Solid Dudes Kitchen. It's over here. He's in the mac-n-cheese episode. Which, if you know him, is pretty damn fitting.

Oh yeah, here's the new studio video! Check it out! We're almost done! Just for reference, almost done in DEP time is like 2 or 3 weeks away from being done.

OPTION PARALYSIS STUDIO VIDEO WEEK 5

That's it for now.

Yessir....today we're like Santa....and goodies abound. Here's a new video from about the midway point of recording Option Paralysis....week 4. Sorry we're a little late, but as you guys know, quality takes time(sometimes a lot of time!) here in the DEP camp.

WEEK 4 STUDIO VIDEO

Also, here for your wearing pleasure is the Limited Edition Shirt for "Mouth Of Ghosts". Again, the artwork was done by our friend Steve Mercado(known as Shadowmonster in design world) and is being printed on super soft shirts you'll be psyched to wear that actually fit human beings comfortably, not a typical band shirt that feels like the kind of paper towels they use in McDonald's bathrooms. Like usual, these shirts are being limited to 200, and are made to order, so that you, our legit inside circle jerk of friends, can have access to something that people can't get on tours and can't get in a store. We keep the number low so that you guys can get them and feel like you have something that a more casual fan wouldn't have access to, because by the time they would even hear about it, the shirts are sold out. We ship anywhere in the world, and this time, you get to pick not only whether you want them in white or black, but we're offering the full list of sizes, all the way from girls extra small to men's triple extra large. The new design can be found RIGHT HERE. Make sure to roll the cursor over the picture to see what the shirt would look like in white. Once again, these shirts have been infused with the ability to repel dorks and poseurs the way bug spray keeps away gnats and the like. Another built in feature is if some shithead with an emo bang or some mongoloid in a TapOut shirt stares at you for too long when you're wearing this he'll disintegrate, so the shirts also serve as moron population control. After this one there is only one left in the series...we'll have that one coming up in a little while.

So...we started recording around September 6th...we're a month in, we have a few weeks to go. This time next month, we will have a new FINISHED RECORD in our hands. Release date, pre-orders, wave of tour dates, all that stuff, coming soon. We'll check in with you next week with a new video. 'Til then, I want you all to be, and I know we'll be, DOIN' IT LIVE!!!!

Not much time. Busy with this record. Fuck Yeah Fest was killer, the last two NIN shows we played were killer, our new album's gonna be killer, we're killer, you guys are killer, blah blah. Below is the first in our series of weekly video blogs from the studio....they'll be coming every Monday(or Tuesday morning if it's a little late!) throughout the entire time we're in the studio.

Option Paralysis In The Studio Week 1

If you want more real time access to our studio progress while we're in there...check out the following twitter accounts.

Ok.....we'll be back soon. The last two Limited Edition Ire Works T-Shirts(When Acting As A Wave, and Mouth Of Ghosts), as well as the Remix EP we've been working on, are forthcoming. Sorry I don't have more for you right now, we're just BUSY getting this record done. Talk to you guys soon, hope you all are doing great!

-Greg

PS....You know what's hilarious? The fact that people are losing their minds over Kanye West doing whatever he did while Taylor Swift was accepting her award for best whatever at the VMAs(didn't they stop showing videos like a decade ago?!) without realizing that when they talk about that shit they are OUTING THEMSELVES AS ACTUALLY HAVING TUNED INTO THE VMAS! DORKS!!! DOOOOORKSSS!!!! Next time someone tries to talk to you about that shit just cut them off by yelling a short powerful "DORK" in their face and quickly walking the other way as if you just ran into a forcefield of inpenetrable dorkness. Works like this and saves you from time wasting idiocy:

Some Idiot: "Dude did you see what Kanye W-"
You: "DORK!!!!!" (immediately head in opposite direction of said dork)

Ok....sorry for the lack of recent updates, but we've had our noses to the grind lately getting this record written, and haven't seen the light of day much. If you've been paying attention to our twitter accounts, you know that we've leaked TWO demo snippets so far. We usually demo the entire record pretty extensively before we enter the studio, so that we don't waste too time fiddling around once we get in there. The snippets, for those of you not following along on twitter, are:

EXHIBIT A

EXHIBIT B

We'll be using this myspace as well as our twitters to update you throughout the recording process, so stay tuned.

Latest BIG news though, is that we are playing a show in Los Angeles to kick off the whole recording process. September 5th, we've been added to FYF Fest(formerly Fuck Yeah Fest!....but I guess the new abbreviation now makes it...Fuck Yeah Fest...Fest?). Get PSYCHED if you live around here. This means that for the first time in a long time...DEP and CONVERGE are gonna be playing together!!!! Other killer bands playing include Torche, Lightning Bolt, Fucked Up, and more. Don't miss out. It's only a $20 ticket, at the Los Angeles State Park in Downtown LA, and it's for a good cause! The fest aims to raise awareness of the possible closure of up to 100 State Parks due to recent California budget cuts. It's gonna be nice to play and have fun before the pure torture of recording starts.

Check out the full lineup and details here.

We start recording FOR REAL on September 7th. Oh yeah...those demo snippets....that's Billy playing drums, not a drum machine as some have speculated. Get ready. We've got a bunch of songs that are gonna be more than enough for you all to chew on for a while.

I feel like I'm missing something. I probably am and it's probably because I've been listening to these insane songs and parts on a loop for months now and its basically starting to feel like I'm being dropped down a long flight of steep stairs over and over again. I'm telling you...every time we make a record, I think we all go gradually more and more insane from it, and we haven't even started real recording yet. We wrap on October 30th...hopefully we won't all need lobotomies by then. Why do you think we go through members so fast?

I can't believe that we start actual tracking in less than two weeks! This time two years ago we were mixing Ire Works. Time flies, and things are way different than they were back then. Two years is a relatively short period of time, but things were literally on the brink of destruction at that time and now they are stronger than ever. Crazy. Wait 'til you hear what we've got for you now. The vibe when we recorded Ire Works was defined by a feeling of struggle and hope and just staying alive in the face of almost falling apart, feeling triumphant in making it through the previous couple of years, and now the vibe is "ok now we're just gonna fuck everyone up." As always, we love you guys for being here through it all, through our evolution over the last decade, and we look forward to and get off on interacting with all of you in every way. The Dillinger Escape Plan is like a living entity to us, a cell of sorts, of which you are all a part. We're psyched to bring in 2010 and the next decade of our existence with a total motherfucker of a record.

"Option Paralysis" release date is coming soon. See some of you soon in LA, I'll update this again the day before we start recording, and then you guys can follow along on here, twitter, youtube, whatever.

Here it is.....check it out.

We are only selling 200, and because we put this up last night before we actually blogged about it, we're already short 30 of 'em. So don't sleep on this.  Did you guys ever see the "Moonwalker" Michael Jackson movie with Joe Pesci? Remember that Joe Pesci was trying to kill Michael Jackson by riding around in some giant robot or something? Or MJ was a robot? Or he turned into one? Something. I dunno. Something about a robot. It's fuzzy now. Either way, when you look at this shirt I want you to imagine the main robot has Michael Jackson in it like one of the Voltron lions, and all of the other robots are doing some sort of creepy Thriller-esque choreography. Cause, you know, Michael Jackson died and stuff, and it was on my mind while we were trying to get this shirt up. Actually, come to think of it, I can imagine few things more horrifying than looking at the horizon and seeing massive robots marching toward your town doing jerky zombie dance moves, while that long middle instrumental part of Thriller plays at ear splitting decibels.

Go HERE to pick it up, and as soon as you put it on you are hereby commanded to do a spin and a moonwalk. Or hug a random child you don't really know that well. Or put as many pills in your hand as you can and hungry hippo dem shits.

All jokes aside, people who grew up in the eighties know how insanely badass Michael Jackson was before shit started getting weiiiiiird, so RIP MJ, I hope when the dead rises at the end of time you lead us all in some weird fucked up zombie dance army.

OH!!! Go check out a new remix Ben put up on his page of a song from that band  IWrestledABearOnce. Check it out HERE.

Have a great weekend....

Ok so sitting backstage at Reggie's Rock Club in Chicago, about to eat some dinner, figured I'd check in with you guys. First off, thanks to everyone who has come out so far...to Long Island, to Philadelphia, to DC, to Raleigh, to Bonnaroo, to Pontiac. These shows have been amazing and very invigorating for us as a band. Every one of these shows has been shockingly high energy, and the vibe between us and you guys has never been higher. Last night alone, when within seconds the stage barricade was pushed over and eventually taken out, fuuuuuck. There are people coming who have seen us 50 times, 20 times, 7 times, and many people who are just seeing us for the first time. All coming separately, but all leaving as one big sweaty blob ready to tell posers everywhere to SUCK IT.

This meet and greet contest thing we've been doing, has also been very inspiring. We get to meet cool people every day and talk to them about normal every day things, and its really nice and makes us feel more connected to you guys, which is really the whole point right? You have no idea how psyched we were to meet a 14 year old kid with a Drive Like Jehu shirt on, a badass attitude, who knew the names of everyone in Jane's Addiction, who had been listening to us SINCE HE WAS 9, and chill and watch Guns 'N Roses Live At The Ritz 1988 with him. Every day, we meet cool people because of this meet and greet, and we look forward to it. You guys always thank us, but really, THANK YOU, cause it reinforces that we are doing something right when we meet you guys and realize that we have pretty much only awesome people in our audience and an extremely low douchebag percentage. Between interacting with you onstage, meeting you offstage, and talking to some of you on here, I've come to the conclusion and would be willing to bet that percentage wise we have WAAAAY more killer people and WAAAAY less douches than most any other band. It would suck to be in a band and realize that you wouldn't really like 80% of your audience if you got to know them. Fortunately you guys all seem to kick ass, and it's noted and appreciated.

We played that hippie festival Bonnaroo the other day and the night before our set we jammed with Nails again on the "Wish" song, in what apparently was the last song(pre-encore) of their last US tour ever(hopefully not!). That was a great time, thanks goes out to those guys for being the nicest people(band and crew) and to Trent for going out of his way to endorse us as a band and always look out for us when we're around. Check some videos of the Nails/DEP jammer from the fest, a crowd view HERE and a sidestage/backstage view HERE.

We, recently, as some of you may have seen, announced our new album title....."OPTION PARALYSIS". GET FUCKING EXCITED. We are getting together all of our full demos, and we'll be hitting the studio for real to lay down actual tracks in a month and a half to two months or so. Within the next coming months we'll be sneaking bits and pieces of our new stuff into our shows, our blogs, our video thingies, all over the place. I'm sure you caught the snippet at the end of the last video....more is coming.

ALSO....we have announced that we are creating an umbrella known as PARTY SMASHER INC. that we will be putting out all of our future endeavors under. Our records, our shirts, our whatever the fucks....all of it is from now on coming out under that moniker. You'll see that on there no matter where or what it is, and that's how you'll know if something you are getting is really an official DEP release and not a copy, like on the limited shirts and limited other things that we are gonna be doing. That will be on there, and if you don't see it, on EBAY or something, it's not legit.

Totally off topic, but a topic that everyone should be checking out if you wanna see punk ethic on display at the highest level...is the scene over in Iran. In case you haven't been paying attention, shit is going OFF over there. Revolution is breaking out, and its really inspiring to see. People over there, young people in particular, are refusing to live under a corrupt rule that disregards their personal liberties and freedoms as human beings, and are taking matters into their own hands. I'm not talking about little protests like we are used to seeing here, I'm talking about shit that you can't even imagine unless you see pictures like THESE. The government there isn't allowing in international media, they are monitoring and regulating anything that comes out of their country's media, and they are monitoring and shutting down phones, power grids, text messaging, internet servers, anything they can do. They are misreporting things to make the situation not look as extreme as it is, they have burned ballot boxes, and are beating their citizens with their own militia and the help of Hezbollah and Hamas resources as well. The only way real news is getting out is from the youth and students managing to get out twitters and pictures like the ones above. Check out a constantly updated twitter account HERE to read about what is really going on. Remember that those people there are our brothers and sisters as human beings, and that we as aware and conscious people should be aware and inspired by their activism and refusal to allow old and restrictive paradigms to shape their future any longer. That shit over there is as punk as it fucking gets, and if we have any fans over there, we are inspired by what you are going through and hope that one day your situation will be such that a band like us will be able to come play for you.

Anyhow....everyone....keep kicking ass....KILLING POSER BULLSHIT EVERYWHERE....and we'll talk to you soon.

-Greg

Ok so check it out, we are now teaming up with Carrie our street team queen and doing a little contest thing for these upcoming shows(which now includes GUELPH, ONTARIO on the twentieth by the way....see below).

June 9th - Farmingdale, NY - Crazy Donkey
June 10th - Philadelphia, PA - First Unitarian Church
June 11th - Washington, DC - Rock N Roll Hotel
June 12th - Raleigh, NC - The Brewery
June 14th - Manchester, TN - Bonnaroo
June 16th - Pontiac, MI - The Pike Room
June 17th - Chicago, IL - Reggie's Rock Club
June 18th - Columbus, OH - The Basement
June 19th - St Catharines, Ontario - L3 Nightclub
June 20th - Guelph, ONT - Vinyl
June 21st - Toronto, ONT - The Mod Club

Here's the deal in a nutshell. YOU send a scan of your ticket or receipt or some kind of proof of purchase of your presale ticket, to Carrie, at carrie.knific@gmail.com, with the name of your city in the subject line, and your phone number and proof of purchase in the message, and then she will, a day before each show, randomly select a winner. The winner, plus a guest, will hang out with us before we play, play air guitar to some grindcore band with Tuttle, float in the air and do yoga with Liam, something, and then will be able to watch the show from sidestage/backstage/wherever you want. Basically you get an ALLLLL access pass for about 30 mins prior to the show until it's all said and done. We'll get in touch with you the day before to let you know that you are the unlucky individual, and then we'll hit you up the day of to let you know the deal.

Alright! We have a week left until show numero uno. Also, about presales in general, if you haven't bought your ticket, ya might wanna get crackin', because a couple of these shows are starting to get a little cramped for space(not saying which ones), and will most likely be sold out by the day of. See you soon.
