We wanted to take this opportunity to send out thanks again to everyone who
came out to see us on our St Patrick's Day tour which wrapped up in our home
town of Boston last week. We had a great time at the shows & don't even know
where to begin to thank you all for your enthusiasm & support in helping
make this such a successful & memorable tour. It might sound like a cliche
but we couldn't do it without you crazy bastards!

Just in case you didn't see it, our performance on the Late Late Show with
Craig Ferguson aired on St Patrick's Day, here's a link to watch it online.
We come on around the 35 minute mark;

A fan has posted just the performance portion of the show here;

Also, we were excited to find out that the Australian Football League is
using "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" as their theme song for the 2009 football
season downunder. You can view the commercial here;

Dropkick Murphys
Re-open McGreevy's
3rd Base Saloon

88 YEARS AFTER PROHIBITION CLOSED ITS DOORS, NUF CED MCGREEVY'S 3RD BASE SALOON REOPENS IN BOSTON AT 911 BOYLSTON ST.

Considered by many as the "Birthplace of Red Sox Nation" and "America's 1st Sports-Bar and Baseball Museum", McGreevy's 3rd Base Saloon is finally back after its disappearance from the Boston scene in 1920. Back then its founder "Nuf Ced" McGreevy led his group of rabid Red Sox fans "the Royal Rooters" in song as they led their Red Sox to victory with the fight song "Tessie".
In 2004 "a modern day McGreevy" emerged in Ken Casey the founder of the Boston band the Dropkick Murphys. A die-hard Sox fan, Casey and the Murphy's revived McGreevy's spirit with a modern version of "Tessie" that helped the Sox win their first World Championship in 86 years. And then of course after not being involved in 05 and 06 Casey's good friend Jonathan Paplebon brought the band and their song "Shippin Up to Boston" to Fenway and another World Series title followed in 07.
Now in 2008, Casey and the Murphys have resurrected "McGreevy's 3rd Base Saloon" in the heart of the city of Boston. The result is an unmatched Irish Pub and sports bar experience where any member of Red Sox Nation can take a step back in time to see where it all began and rub elbows with current Sox stars like Papelbon himself. Featuring an exact replica of McGreevy's original barroom it features actual photographs and baseball treasures that hung on the walls of the original watering hole. Blending Boston's baseball history from the past and present you can see ancient artifacts like the Sox 1st Fenway World Series Trophy from 1912. The lighting fixtures that hang from the ceiling are even made from game used bats of past and present Red Sox stars.
McGreevy's is the place to be for great food and drink and the ultimate place to see any sporting event. McGreevy's even features Nuf Ced's own geat-grand neice pouring pints from behind the bar as she follows in the footsteps of the Red Sox Nation founder.
McGreevy's original 3rd Base Saloon was known for decades as the place to be for Red Sox players and fans, and with the revival of the historic bar in 2008 that tradition continues where it left off in 1920.
Come join us for a special one day sneak peak on Marathon Monday (the race goes right by us) after which we will close for a few weeks to finish renovations followed by a May GRAND opening !

Hi everyone, the DKM Myspace page has really taken off these days. We appreciate all of you spreading the word about the band, and our music. We receive hundreds of messages every day so thank you for your support. We love hearing feedback from all of our fans and we do hope to respond to all of you personally, eventually. Unfortunately right now that's kind of hard to do unless we can cut down on some of the most asked questions. We're sure you've seen similar information on other band's pages but we just wanted to remind you of a couple of points.

BEFORE YOU SEND US A MESSAGE OR LEAVE A COMMENT PLEASE READ THROUGH THE BELOW FIRST. THESE ARE SOME OF THE QUESTIONS/COMMENTS WE GET ASKED MULTIPLE TIMES EACH DAY. WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE ANSWERING THESE QUESTIONS VIA MYSPACE MESSAGES ANY MORE IN ORDER TO HELP FREE UP SOME TIME AND SO WE CAN STICK TO ANSWERING ALL THE OTHER MESSAGES WE GET.

Q: Can you add me?
A: Yes we can, and thank you for asking. Unfortunately there is not enough time in the day to click through to every individual profile and add each person that way. Especially if we're on tour and using a slow connection or are at an internet cafe. In the amount of time it takes to type out a message and send it to us you could have already clicked on the "add to friends" button in our contact box. We add just about every person who asks but sometimes it may take a few days, please be patient as we will add you soon - see nextquestion below.

Q: I sent a friend request why haven't you added me?
A: We try to add all our friend requests every few days. Sometimes we can't do this due to being on tour or if Myspace is acting cranky and slow and is causing problems in which case we may put it off for a day or two. It is not because we don't like you or don't want you as a friend. We will add you, please just be patient, if you sent us a request the add is coming.

Q: Can you please put "_______" song on your profile?
A: Myspace only allows each band to put up 4 songs per profile. We try to change up the songs every so often and keep a good mix from all the albums -there are many albums and hundreds of songs to choose from and we can't please everybody so we try to keep the most popular and relevant songs up there. Please don't get mad if the song you are using for your profile gets removed it's not because we don't want it on your profile it just means the song has been up for a while and we just swapped it out for something else. Who knows it might come back another time. We're not going to change the songs each time we get a message asking. We would be changing the songs every couple of minutes if we did that!

Q: When are you coming to "______"?
A: We post ALL our tour dates on the page as soon as they are confirmed. We tour as much as we can and appreciate the support from our fans all over the world. If we are not making it to your area on the current tour, we apologize and hope to make it closer to you next time around. We also email tour details to everyone on our e-mailing list. Special ticket presales are also offered through the mailing list. Do yourself a favor and sign yourself up on the left side of our profile under the merch banner.  That way if Myspace is down or having problems you will still get the tour details as soon as they are announced, sent to your email address. Unfortunately we can't play a show in your city every time you send us a message.  There are not enough days in the year!

Q: Can I book you guys for "______"?
A: We have a booking agency and management who handle all of our show bookings and business affairs. We play music, write songs, record albums and go on tour.  We don't want to have to get involved in business type stuff that's why we have a manager. We get many requests for DKM to play or come to birthday parties, bachelor parties, pubs, bars, weddings, fundraisers, you name it. We do not book shows or conduct any business through Myspace. This site is for communicating with our fans about the band and our music.  If you need to get in touch for serious inquiries you can email our manager This is not an invitation to email random questions to our manager. This is for serious show offers and business questions only. Please be patient waiting for a reply as our manager gets hundreds of emails every day. Sometimes she doesn't answer emails from us!  Also, please keep in mind that we have 15 people in our touring party. So getting a schedule worked out for all those people takes time, and we book our shows months in advance. Sometimes even a year in advance. It takes a lot of work getting everything together for a show. If it's suitable, we hope we can work out something with you .  But understand it's impossible to do everyshow we're asked to do. There are not enough days in the year to play every event we get asked to!

Q: Who runs this site?
A: Everyone in the band. It takes a lot of time and effort to stay on top of both our webpages. Everyone takes part in this site, some band members more than others. A couple of the guys in the band who shall remain nameless don't really do much stuff on-line at all. So you won't see them on here very often. We also have two website people who deal with posting most of the information and bulletins. Our manager gets on here sometimes and posts stuff or answers questions too. We will forward all relevant messages and stories on to the person they are meant for. If they can't answer them via Myspace.  Also we do not join groups or respond to invites so please do not message us there. We get many, many requests every day to join groups and we don't have enough time to check out what each group is about before we can decide to join. There are 7 people in the band and some may want to join a particular group and some may not. Rather than taking so much time up working all that out we just delete all the group requests. Same with invites, there's too many of them and too many people in the band to deal with those so they just get deleted as well. Sorry about that, but we hope you'll understand that we're trying to use the page for getting you guys the information and contact you need from the band.  We hope this helps and makes this site easier for everyone. If we can stop, or at least lessen the amount of messages we get relating to the above, we will be able to get to answering all the other messages a lot sooner. And hopefully keep the back log down to a manageable number so you won't have to wait weeks for a response.

Thanks for the support!
Ken, Matt, Al, James, Marc, Tim & Scruffy.

We have had a lot of people asking what our stage intro music is, so we'll post the info for you again here...

The song is "The Foggy Dew" by The Chieftans, with guest vocals by Sinead O'Connor
