Check out Toryn Green's project with new Rock Band "For The Taking"
Page design and layout by Scott Cheramie
Catch their show on December 5 in Centereach, New York at Mulcahy’s - Pub and Music Hall!

Toryn Green is best known for his stint as the lead singer of the multi-platinum band Fuel and more recently, as the touring lead vocalist for Finnish goth rockers Apocalyptica.

Toryn’s musical journey began as a child in Wasilla/Palmer Alaska. When his family moved to California, he took his songwriting to the stage and gained notoriety with his band Something To Burn. After winning several “Battle of the Band” type competitions, Toryn ran into Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver vocalist Scott Weiland. He jumped at the chance to play Weiland the latest STB demos. The very next day, Weiland and his management called Toryn and the band into his studio where they were offered a deal through his label, Softdrive Records. In the midst of this whirlwind, Toryn auditioned for the vacant lead vocalist position in Fuel. He was contacted the same day STB was offered a deal from Softdrive Records and Toryn decided to accept the vocalist position with Fuel.

Toryn and Fuel recorded the album “Angels and Devils” for Epic Records, which was released in August 2007. The band toured in support of the album through early 2008 and appeared live on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno & TLC’s season finale of “LA Ink,” where Toryn was featured getting ambigram tattoos on his forearms.

In April 2008, Toryn was contacted by Apocalyptica to join them as lead singer for their Spring & Autumn US tours. He performed with them again at Apocalyptica's US television debut on NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly."

For 2009, Toryn has begun collaboration with several co-writers and wanting his own project, has teamed up with the remnants of Long Island hard rockers A Farewell Fire. With the musical core of AFF recently splitting with their singer, Toryn slid right into the lead vocal spot and thus "for the taking" was born. Writing and rehearsals have been effortless and debut gigs in Long Island & Indianapolis have already begun.

April 18, 2009 - Saturday

My condolences go out to the family and friends of Gregg Fulkerson who passed away on the 14th of this month.  He was 44.  Gregg was a huge influence on my life and a great inspiration.  I personally thanked him in the liner notes of our first Fuel record and was always amazed at his talent.  Back in my college years I still remember walking across campus and hearing the sound coming from an open window of someone ripping on a guitar.  I followed the sound and walked upstairs to an old auditorium and to find this guy playing every Van Halen song note for note.  Mean Street, Hang'em High, Atomic Punk … everything.   It was Gregg Fulkerson.  I was blown away.  Coming from a very small town, Gregg was the first person I ever saw up close that could really play guitar, much less play what he was playing.  It was amazing.  It was like having someone open a Guitar Gods manual and being shown note for note.  I never knew how he knew so much and how he could execute all that was coming from his fingers and his gear.  I still can't play half of what he was playing.  He truly had a gift. We became friends and I rarely missed a chance to watch him play.   I remember one day he pulled up in his car and wanted me to take a ride and listen to some songs he had been writing for his band Blue Tears.  We rode all around campus listening and I remember the energy and euphoria I got from listening to someone I knew performing, writing, and recording songs and then playing them back through the car stereo, just like they were being played on the radio.  I remember thinking, “I gotta do that!” He really opened up my eyes to what was possible.  He went on to be in a few signed bands (Blue Tears, Attraction 65, etc,) and worked with other artists, but as it is in the entertainment industry, you gotta have a thousand things go right to even have a chance, and the bands never were able to have their stars line up or match the amount of commercial success of the pure unbridled talent that Gregg possessed.  I'll always have great memories of Gregg, of times we spent together, of his kindness and generosity, and of his energy.  Thank you Gregg, you will be missed.

This is an email I got from Fuel's original attorney, Bob Donnelly, a
few days ago. He's a great guy and his account of his Inauguration
Experience is worth the read, no matter what your politics are. Just
reading his account speaks volumes about him personally. Bob, thanks
for the email. Hope all is well with you and all of you out there,
Carl.

Yo, okay ... I've read all you concerns and comments as I always do.  I've no desire to leave you all without any knowledge of what is going on in the Fuel camp, but perhaps it's better legally if I don't comment.  Sucks, but whatya do?  Maybe we should just get lawyers to put out or next record, I dunno?  As usual, we have the between record legal issues.  If you think you are frustrated, please imagine mine.  Tommy took the Everclear gig, because we weren't touring and talked to me before going out with them.  You gotta eat, right?  Same basically for Toryn.  Until there is some clarity in our situation, what are you gonna do?   In the meantime, we'll try to see if and when we can bring this plane in for a landing.  We'll all just keep on keeping on.  Thanks for all you interest and concern.  As I get more info, so will you.

On a different note, I see the best selling author Stephenie Meyer has us on her playlist.  Nice.  Check it out:

Thanks to all of you for your continued patience and interest.  You are basically all that really matters.  Carl
