Hey RRB
Family! ....
.. ..
So here we
are…a few weeks away from being finished with our new record. We have been working hard with producer
Paul Worley at Warner Brothers Studio in Nashville, TN. Before you start jumping to conclusions,
let me tell you a little about how we went about making our new record. ....
.. ..
Remember
"Rollercoaster?" If you
were a fan of our band back then you remember us playing all those songs live
before we ever made the record.
Then, we went into the studio and recorded the songs we already knew. Well, Worley let us do that again. Over the last 6 months we had a total
of 8 rehearsal days with our new producer in a controlled environment. It was
like band camp. For 8 hours or so
a day we worked up a total of 18 new songs. It was long hours and lots of creative ideas bounced around
from....
producer to
band and from band guys to producer.
If you have been to any shows over the last 6 months (and you haven't
been too intoxicated :)) you have heard our work. We have been playing most of the new songs. We have been trying them out on
you. Some you have heard made the
cut and some didn't. YOU
influenced our decisions. We
watched your reactions. Didn't think we were watching you, huh? ....
.. ..
So then
over the last 2 weeks we went in to the studio and set up like a band -like the
band you see every time you pay your hard earned money to see us. Then we played our new songs like you
were there in the room with us.
All the while, Paul was recording.
A real band, playing live…the same guys you see on stage. ....
.. ..
I am also proud
to tell you that 9 of 11 songs were written by either me or someone in....
our band.
That is something we are very proud of.
We cut one of our old friend Radney Foster's songs - a brand new one nobody
has ever heard. ....
.. ..
I’m not
trying to spoil all the fun in making everyone wait for the new record. I just
wanted to drop you a line and let you know how focused this band is on being
genuine to our music and what we believe is the future direction of OUR genre…country
music. For years us Texans have been
blessed with honest, real music. I
think it's time the rest of the country heard what we've been doing. ....
.. ..
I think
2010 will be a huge year for RRB.
This will not happen without your continued support and love that you have
for music and our scene. We are
thankful this Holliday season for the blessing that you have given us to stand
on stage every night in front of you and be
real. Not flashy, not beautiful,
not perfect. But real. If that is something you are still
interested, then you’re in luck.
Coming in 2010 a brand new record from the RRB will be on your
shelf. If you dig the early works of this band and the effort we made on "Rollercoaster" you will be
pleasantly surprised to find that we don't have to go back to our roots. We
never left and we never will.
.. ..
Merry
Christmas, Friends. Travel safe.....
