Dear friends,
Back from Euro tour, which was amazing. A huge thank you and extended joy to everyone who came out to the shows, put the shows on, wanted to be there or just kinda hung out in and around. It was one for the ages. There's a pretty rad video on youtube of us playing a last-minute requested version of "Last Year" in Berlin. You can look at that here.

Also, I wrote a long and semi-involved day-by-day wrap up of the tour, as well as posted a bunch of photos. If you're interested, that is up over
here.

And last but not least, we have an amazing new 45 for sale from our friends at Ernest Jenning Records. Two pop song compression tester jams, on magenta-swirl vinyl! Those are for sale over
here.
Hope you all are enjoying the sunshine and sleeping late, staying up later. More news soon.
Love,

Current mood:  ashamed
Dear friends and superbs,
Man, how do Matchbox 20 and Super Furry Animals and Fallout Boy and all those bands do it? How do you constantly be making songs, recording them, playing them for people, making them into ringtones, whatever AAAAANNND still have the energy to let anyone know about it?

I'm sorry everyone, cause I feel like there's always so much going on with Saturday Looks Good To Me and I can barely keep it together for myself, let alone alert the public about it. Not in some way where the public would necessarily even care that much, but more in a way where it's like.. "Oh, we're going on tour in a week. Maybe I should post the shows so people know about them." or maybe I should call the opening bands and make sure they're still gonna play, or maybe I should update our website, which I am terrible at. So yes, here is a makeshift update, in list form, for anyone who cares about what's happening with this band.

In order of presumed chronology:

*EAST COAST TOUR
A short four shows starting this Friday and ending on Monday back in New York City. The same band that did most of the "Fill Up The Room" fall tour. Ryan "my son" Howard on drums, Andrew "our boy" Hoepfner on bass, Sgt. Sellwood on keys and guitars, and Fred "mouthnoise" Thomas, doing what I always do. Please come by if you're in the area at all.

*NEW 7"s, and how...
Three new singles are on the way! First is a new double-a side banger from our friends at Ernest Jennings Records, who put out our "Money In The Afterlife" single. Two super short, super happy jams dedicated to all our friends and lovers in the UK. It's always the best to be over with the killers in London, who are beyond friendly, beyond fun, and really remind you why you go on tour or even leave your house to begin. Two songs: "Dianne, Falling Off Of Her Horse" & "Springtime Judgment".
A single in the late spring or early summer will have one new song that didn't make it to FUTR and two remixes!! First time ever! Our Brooklyn buds High Places do a sick bassoon-ed out remix of "Whitey Hands" and BARR comes in with a bajillioned version of "Even If You Die On The Ocean". This will be out on K as soon as possible.
and then a new 7" called "Mighty Cloud" available only on our....

*SUMMER EUROPEAN TOUR
That's right! Going back to Europe and going all over this time. Our boy bjoern at Under The Stars booking in Berlin is hooking it up right now. If you're interested in having us play your venue anywhere in Germany, Sweden, France, the UK, Scotland, etc... drop him a line at bjoern@underthestars.de. He rules and will do the best. Really looking forward to playing in Germany again, a country we have sadly missed out on a lot. This tour was tricky to get people together for, as the summer tends to get busy, so it's me, Sellwood, and the illustrious Steve Middlekauf on drums, as well as our deerheart Betty Barnes on vocals and who knows what else. More news on this as soon as it's available.

And if you read all that, you realize why I don't write more often... So many words, it's a whole world. Keep it together for the end of winter little children, and hopefully we will see you all very soon.
Love,

Category: Dreams and the Supernatural
Hello dear friends. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the release of Neutral Milk Hotel's monumental record "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea", the slightly popular music website Pitchfork Media asked some artists to write small pieces with their thoughts and personal experiences with the record over the years. Saturday Looks Good To Me chimes in with a typically wordy rumination by myself, alongside pieces by Of Montreal, No Age, Caribou, Cursive and others. It ran today, so check it out and think about what you were doing in 1998.

Current mood:  excited
So friends,
As you know we're getting more and more stoked to go on tour as our new record "Fill Up The Room" comes closer into view. More dates are being added, we're practicing, we're getting our spirtiual minds together. Not to play favorites, but one of the really exciting developments in tour are the double live record release shows we're playing in Chicago; one 21+ at the Hideout and one all ages jam at Schuba's the next night. What makes it so exciting is that we've developed a plan to make these shows very special and very different from each other. Both nights set's will showcase songs from "Fill Up The Room" as well as new, not-yet-recorded songs that we're working on right now, but the Hideout set will draw into our more reved-up rocked-out guitar solo jams, and the Schuba's show will be a mellower, sound-shifting affair, playing for the first time live ever songs off Green Mansions, Cold Colors, Cruel August Moon and other never-played stuff. Both shows will also feature bigger versions of the band, with a lot of old friends who have played with us before coming together to add strings, horns, additional percussion, etc.. And for all of you who have missed the female vocals of our older material, yes, the dearhearted Betty Barnes will be in attendance to sing some numbers as well.

Now, this is cool in and of itself, but the thing that makes my tape Op heart beat fast is that both nights will be recorded professionally and released later on in the year as our first live album. Double Live, 2 LP set even. Our live shows have never stuck to one consistant sound, and they always sound a lot different from our studio recordings, but after years of apologizing and feeling weird about that, I realized that we should be embracing this odd fact. Because it's actually pretty amazing to write a simple pop song and never have it sound exactly the same. Captain Beefheart knew this, and I'm just learning.

So, you're thinking to yourself... "Ok, that's cool, but what does this have to do with me? I live in Chicago, I might go to one or both of these shows, no big deal..." Except, we're calling out to anyone planning on attending either show to let us know what songs they want to hear. It would suck to have two shows so very different that you miss your favorite song because you weren't old enough to get in, or didn't have the cash to go to both. We definately have ideas of what stuff we want to get in the sets, but your input is requested and will be factored in seriously. Something as monumental for us as a live album really couldn't exist without the interaction that's always ongoing between the band and our audience, and we appreciate your attention and love more than you'll ever know.

Drop us a line on myspace or comment here, and if you don't have a myspace account, feel free to email me directly at westsideaudio@hotmail.com. We're extremely excited about these shows and the recordings, and we want you to be as much a part of it as possible.

Counting down,
Fred & The Saturdays

Dear Friends,
We are so pleased to announce today that before we begin our headlining tour to support our new record, we will be joining K Records labelmates and true sweethearts of pop sounds The Blow for a mini tour of the eastmost coast. With just five short shows, it might be hard to communicate the maximum amount of love necessary to cleanse the hearts and minds of everyone in New York, Philly, Boston, Columbus Ohio and DC, but we will do our very best. We should have a limited amount of copies of the new record available for sale before the official release date by then, but not sure. We will definitely have new t-shirts with new designs, as well as some possible reading material and even newer songs than the ones that are already new. Please make a point to be at these shows if you're in the neighborhood. I'm pretty sure they're entirely all ages and the combination of these two musical forces is one that will no doubt alter history or at least be a lot of fun every night. Thanks as always for your love and support.

Hello dearests,
It's been so hot that I think I've lost my mind a little bit. Now that the air is cooling down, I feel like there's so much I've got to do, and so much time I've wasted, spent laying on the floor awaiting death. Lots of catching up to do! So, first thing I'll do today is put a new song on our page here, the first one we're gonna hand up from our new record. It's called "When I Lose My Eyes", it's one of our longer songs, it's about the endlessness of true love even through physical breakdown, and if you saw us play on that last Euro tour, you know that it's our favorite song to play live right now. Enjoy, and there's more to come.
Love,

Current mood:  enthralled
Up early in the morning in Portland, still on Swedish time, nine hours into the future.
We wrapped up our third and most involved tour of Europe almost a week ago, and I think it's safe to say we're all pretty exhausted and spent in the best possible way. I'll be posting a full-scale gory details tour diary on slgtm.com later today if anyone's interested in the diner's club version, but for the casualist, I can say it was the hardest travelling, best shows and most surreal of all the touring any version of the band has ever done. Thank you so much to all the wonderful people we met and played with along the way.

Our new record "Fill Up The Room" got pushed back to an October 23rd release date because I couldn't finish the artwork in time. Upon my return from tour, I finished said cover art and I couldn't be happier with it. I'll put it up here sometime soon. The drag is, one of the seven or eight people I burned a copy of this record for put it up on the internet and now people are downloading it here and there. Please don't do this. Please wait until it comes out at least to download it. I don't care so much about making money or how many records we sell, (although it is nice to eat) but it does feel kind of upsetting and sad to work so hard on something and have everyone know all about it out of context six months before you can actually present it to the world. Like cheating on your test or opening your presents before your birthday then being like "Yeah, I know, I looked already." It sucks. Please do me a favor and hold out for a while.

We sold all our copies of the "Green Mansions" tour 12", but Polyvinyl still has some for sale at their online store. (www.polyvinylrecords.com).

No more shows until the fall, except maybe a surprise NYC jam in there somewhere. You might find this insane, but recording has already begun for the next album after the one that comes out in October. Cannot stop. More music more music more sonic symptoms more survery more motion, etc. Thanks for your continued support and enjoy the perfect summertime.

Love,
Fred & The Saturdays
