It's November 2, 2009. On this day many years ago my Dad got remarried and I fainted at the wedding. And now here it is a generation later, I've never been asked to be in another wedding party again, and I'm writing to tell you how me and Jim and Eric and Rob have just finished an album and that we're calling it Transference. This is the first record we've made without a producer or heavy of any kind and I don't know for sure because I'll never hear this record in the same way that someone who didn't make it will, but I think you can tell it. I can. When I listen to it I think, hey, that's how I woulda done it! Which is really what you wanna to hear from a band, isn't it? This one is pure Spoon. For better or worse and all of it. Happy anniversary Dad and Patty! Love you, Britt

Hi Hi Hi There,
The first four full-length albums in the Spoon catalog:The first four full-length albums in the Spoon catalog:The first four full-length albums in the Spoon catalog: Telephono (w/ Soft Effects EP) (1996) A Series Of Sneaks (1998) Girls Can Tell (2001) and Kill The Moonlight (2003)
are for the first time available digitally WORLDWIDE. MP3s and FLAC audio of these albums along with unseen live video footage from 2006 and liner notes previously-unavailable in the digital format can now be downloaded directly from the band.
We've also located some rarely-seen propaganda items from the past which are available in deluxe packages. Propaganda like: limited-edition postcards sent to the band's snail mail list in 1998, a beautiful German tour poster from 2005, two previously out of print t-shirt designs from the Girls Can Tell and Kill the Moonlight days, as well as a brand new messenger/vinyl bag. All are available only through this site http://catalog.spoontheband.com.
Band is very busy and misses you.
love,
Deux Deux

Dear list, Last week while Spoon was working on their next album in Brooklyn, long-time Spoon sound engineer Hot Pockets was in Austin mixing recordings of each of the three Stubb's shows from a couple of weeks ago. I would like you each to know that each show was recorded in multi-track HD and that each night is now available as an MP3 or FLAC download at the Spoon store. Earlier versions of the downloads had incorrect song titles but I've fixed that. There are also some Rob Jones-designed posters for the shows left in same store. Dear fans of vinyl, In Europe, the Got Nuffin 7" single is in shops now and available online through the Rough Trade store. The US vinyl version (on 12"!) will be in stores on August 18. If you've pre-ordered the US vinyl through the Spoon store (or if you order it now) it will arrive sooner than that. Yours both, Deux Deux

Dear Spoon Listeners,
On Tuesday, Merge in North America and Anti- in Europe will be releasing Spoon's first newly-recorded music since Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga: a new single called "Got Nuffin," as well as two b-sides. In case you are wondering, these b-sides are entitled "Tweakers" and "Stroke Their Brains." The available formats: CD and MP3, with vinyl to be made available shortly. Go to www.spoontheband.com on Tuesday.
I have arranged for this special summer release to tide you over until the next album which -- though I still need to talk to the band about some of the coarse language and investigate the rampant backmasking -- I assure you will be a doozy.
Please remember to visit the band in Milwaukee on Monday and in Austin July 9, 10, and 11 and to bring them food. They have been looking so malnourished.
all my Deux Deux love,
Deux Deux

Hello Dear Ones, I believe I told you about the Spoon shows at Stubbs that I set up for July. Well, here are some new details: July 09 – SPOON, Quasi, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears July 10 – SPOON, Low, Dale Watson July 11 – SPOON, Atlas Sound, The Strange Boys As you might have noticed, ...And You Know Us By The Trail Of Dead are no longer on the bill for Thursday. We apologize for the mixup, it turns out they are going to be in Europe during this time. But the great Northwest's Quasi has joined Thursday's bill and it will be their first Austin show since 2003. Trust that I will deal with Trail Of Dead when the time comes. In regard to these shows, there are a couple of ticket specials that have been available for some time. 1) if you buy 4 tickets for any one show, you can get the bunch for $80. July 09 click here: July 10 click here: July 11 click here: 2) Some 3-night passes have been made available at a price of $75. For those, click here: I've launched www.spoonx3.com so that you may keep up with all pertinent news for these shows and listen to each of the bands playing over the three days. And did you know? You can now follow Spoon on Twitter! I have much to tweet: www.twitter.com/spoonthebandOtherwise, I have requested that the band write and record another LP and that is how they will be occupying themselves for most of the summer, but there are a few other show dates I've allowed: June 29 Milwaukee, MN Summerfest Mergefest XX July 26 Lake Tahoe, CA Wanderlust Festival Yours, Deux Deux

My Spoon List Dears, I want you to be the first to know that I have set up a three-night stand for Spoon at Stubb’s in Austin this summer, and that the band will be joined only by very special and notable guests. As long as everybody does as they're told, it's just gonna be wild! The lineup will be as follows: July 09 – SPOON, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of the Dead, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears July 10 – SPOON, Low, Dale Watson July 11 – SPOON, Atlas Sound, The Strange Boys As a special offer exclusive to www.spoontheband.com and myspace, you can buy passes to all three nights of this all-ages madness at a $10 discount to purchasing tickets for each individual night. And of course you can also buy individual show tickets. Both can be purchased HERE NOW as part of a pre-sale that’s running through Saturday. Tickets go on sale to everyone else at 10AM CST Saturday (April 25) via Frontgate Tickets HERE. Lastly, please be aware that I just put together a new home-made video of the band rehearsing and enjoying the company of Hot Pockets at a sweltering practice space somewhere in Gold Coast, Australia. This episode features the band learning the Ted Leo version of Don't You Evah, and it's just gone up in the Bonus section at www.spoontheband.com. IS THIS EXCITING OR WHAT? Deux Deux

The record was mixed in January with longtime Spoon collaborator Mike McCarthy and it comes out on tbd Records on May 19. www.whiterabbitsmusic.comRed Hot Spoon contributed a song entitled "Well-Alright" to a new Red Hot compilation called Dark Was The Night, which was just released worldwide on 4AD.
