Hello NY/NJ brothers and sisters! jon karel here...

Yes, that's right, private weekly or biweekly lessons at my personal rehearsal studio in clifton NJ. OR if you're just starting out and want to have a solid approach to your fundamentals right from the start, I'm your man!!! I do love teaching, and have so many new ideas I want to share with all of you!!

So, as many of you may or may not know we just finished 35 shows throughout Europe and the UK with 2 or 3 days off.
We are tired, broke, still a little grumpy, but most importantly proud and appreciative.

Many thanks must go out to:
All the fans that came to the shows and made us feel at home.
All the new friends and people we met.
Anybody who let us stay on their floor or couch and usually fed us!
Many of the promoters and sound guys who stood out from the rest for their hospitality or professionalism.
Misery Signals, The Captain & Ondrej for being generally awesome dudes and being a part of our first tour overseas.
Your Demise & Begley for being generous with their van & gear, but above all being absolutely ridiculous fun brits.
    Anna & Janis in Athens.
Last but not least Uncle Jesse and Wayne P.

We had a blast, worked hard & are willing and able to do it again...just let us know what you thought and keep your ears open for more to come...
Where to next?!?

Hello all, this is Jon Karel here. my favorite time has come yet again to come back into the world and perform for all of you. i always love touring as it gives me an opportunity to try an earn your respect and enthusiasm. especially from drummer to drummer. i love the never ending challenge of trying to make new fans! and i am determined to bring it even harder this time around...

that being said. I've received many emails throughout the years from all of you drummers across many countries wondering about lessons. i would like to now offer my services up to you guys. I will take on, if you so desire, up to one student per show on this upcoming tour. you must travel to the actual venue we are performing at that night to meet with me. sometime before our set, your lesson would include one hour (and change) of private instruction, reference material, and possibly a free guest list pass to that evenings performance.

total cost for the hour is 50 dollars. this will be a first come first serve basis. look at our itinerary. if were in or near your town and you want a private lesson, hit me up at jonkarel@gmail.com

if i do not respond to your email, that means that date has already been taken!

thanks again so much everybody! cant wait to see you out there.

peace, love, drums...

Drummers!!! I am pleased to announce that this summer i will be be doing two drum workshops right here in New Jersey!

These 3 hour workshops will be hosted at the beautiful and inspiring Tree House studios in jersey city NJ, on Sunday August 16th, and Sunday August 23rd.

In those 3 hours i will be covering a wide range of topics not limited too, but including: Demonstrations of songs played in the #12 looks like you, playing and writing concepts for those songs. Developing speed power and control with arms, wrists, fingers, legs and ankles! The Moeller method, push pull method, free hand technique, double bass drumming, odd time signatures, poly-rhythms, set-up and tuning tips, using a metronome,  live and studio drumming tips, improvising, explanations and exorcises for all!!!

There will be snacks and refreshments, as well as lots of homework for you to take home!!!

The total cost per attendee will be only $100!!! my normal fee for private lessons is $50 an hour. This is like getting 3 lessons in a row for only $33 a piece, what a deal!!!

You must act fast though, I'm only accepting a maximum of 10 attendees per workshop!!! Any more than that won't feel as intimate. First come, first serve!

if you're interested, contact: jonkarel@gmail.com to make all the arrangements!

Thanks, hope to see you there!!!

It's time for me to try some new toys so I've decided I'm going to let this go. This amp has treated me very well and it is a complete workhorse. The head was used on Mongrel and Worse than Alone for those who are interested. It is a 2006 VHT of which I am the original owner and received straight from the factory. They are not production amps and are assembled by hand as I have seen when I visited. The condition of the head is excellent because it has been in the roadcase.
My asking price is $2100. They retail new for $3999 so it is a killer deal for a boutique amp that has plenty of life. I prefer to sell locally but I will let it go if someone wants it badly. Email me at yourideology@hotmail.com if you have a serious inquiry.
Thanks
Alexis

I know I write really fun / not so serious blogs all the time, but this might be my first serious one. Growing up in poverty in Jersey City, NJ was really difficult for me and my family....they were all I had, no friends. So in the darkest time of my life, the only thing that I had looked forward to was listening to Michael Jackson. He was officially the reason why I started listening to music. Any memory I have of happiness in those days were usually of me dancing to his songs. My current life revolves solely around music, so to be honest I don't even know where I'd be today if it wasn't for MJ. So here I am, the singer for #12 with real fans, managing bands, recording music, doing artwork for bands...I am in a dreamland and never wanna wake up. And if you know me, you know about my Michael Jackson tattoo on my leg and know my true love for the guy. Take a few minutes and listen to some MJ jams, billie jean, man in the mirror, rock with you, whatever...just know that you were all alive with one of the last legends who changed the world with music....think Kanye West can do that?
love you MJ, love all you.
