Greetings from Vampire Weekend

Summer is in full swing and we've got some exciting news on multiple fronts!

Firstly, Rostam and Wes from Ra Ra Riot have spent years working together as Discovery and this week their album, LP, is finally out!

You can get it from iTunes and Amazon or any record store around the world. It features Rostam and Wes both singing and guest vocals from Ezra as well Angel from the Dirty Projectors.

Secondly we are in the final stages of completing our second album, and we'll have more exciting news about that very soon.

Discovery is the recording project of Rostam Batmanglij and Wes Miles of Ra Ra Riot. Today through July 7, when you purchase Discovery, LP through Amie Street, $2 per album will be donated to Oxfam America, an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Oxfam's focus on broad advocacy and local relief for the impoverished is inspiring and we hope our support brings more awareness about their projects and goals.

Due to production and shipping delays, the Discovery album will not be available at Amazon, Best Buy, Borders and other chain stores until July 14 however, you'll still be able to pick it up July 7 at your favorite indie store and through iTunes and other digital retailers.

We just got back from Mexico. It was an amazing, game-shifting tour! Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows and thanks to all our new friends (Toy, Napoleon, Diego, Maryanna, Eduardo, Carlos, etc)!!

This Wednesday night (or Thursday morning, if that's how you get down...) we're playing Jimmy Fallon's show. It should be fun and different.

the show is on NBC and starts at 12:35 AM.

I feel like there is so much else to say, but now is not the time. Things are happening....

Sincerely,
  Ez

We've just been informed that the Students for Barack Obama at Carnegie Mellon have had to cancel the Voter Registration Drive we were set to play at tomorrow due to last-minute campus security issues. Obviously, we were really looking forward to coming out to Pittsburgh and participating in the event and this last-minute news is unfortunate. Sorry to anyone who was planning on coming out to register and check out the show.

Monday, October 6th, is the last day to register to vote in for the general election in Pennsylvania. You can find more information here:

http://www.votespa.com/

Registration deadlines are fast-approaching in many states so make sure you're still on the books! I had an unpleasant and Kafkaesque (no, really!) experience during the primaries due to my failure to check on my status.

There's been some nonsense in this election regarding college students voting in Colorado and Virginia. Even if your parents claim you as a dependent you can still vote in the state where you go to school. The choice is yours! For example, you have the legal right to vote in either Boulder or back home on Long Island in the middle school gym where you got hit in the face with a dodge ball as a kid. JK, you were probably sick at dodge ball.

Anyway, we know that everyone will do the necessary research to determine which candidate will fight for the things they care about, but let's all keep reminding each other to vote! Voter turnout has been climbing higher and higher over the past three elections, but it is still down since 1960. If you like to be competitively patriotic, why not focus on getting our national turnout rate up? We're getting schooled by countries like Malta and Australia! Those places have voter turnout OVER 90%.

GOOD LUCK! SEE YOU SOON!

PRE POST SUMMARY:

WE'LL BE ON SNL ON 3/8!
WE'LL MAKE UP THE GIGS IN ORLANDO AND ST. AUGUSTINE IN JUNE (THE WALKMEN WILL STILL PLAY ON ORIGINAL DATES).
WE'LL PICK UP THE TOUR IN ATLANTA.
I GOT HIT BY A CAR.
TOM PETTY IS AWESOME.

Prose version:
We're traveling home tomorrow after an eventful UK tour. We were very excited to start our North American tour on 3/6, but something has come up.

We have been invited to play on next Saturday's (3/8) SNL, and were honored to accept! Unfortunately, this means we'll have to postpone our appearances in Orlando and St. Augustine and cancel our set at the Langerado festival. The Walkmen will still be playing on those dates. We are looking forward to meeting up with them in Atlanta and continuing our regularly scheduled tour. We will be back in Orlando and St. Augustine on June 7 and 8.

This all happened very quickly, so there will be more information in the coming days.

Also, many of you may have read that I was involved in a hit and run accident last night in London. It's surreal that that currently qualifies as a "news" item, but I would sincerely like to thank everyone who lent me their support and good vibes. I feel incredibly lucky to have sustained only minor injuries, and would also like to thank the Royal London Hospital (Dr. Lewinsohn!) for taking care of me. I'm currently recuperating with a steady diet of Nando's chicken and Tom Petty, who, appropriately, pointed out that even walls fall down.

Really excited for next week and the tour to come. See you out there!

Current mood:BUMMED!
We're very sad to announce that we have to cancel this week's shows in Manchester and Glasgow due to illness. We were very psyched to come, but at least we'll be back in May.

We sincerely apologize to anyone who was planning on seeing us. Hope we can make it up to you in a couple of months.

Please send positive health vibes our way.

Best,
Ezra
