Hey Everyone,

Well this past weekend was hectic for us on the road. Two shows in less than 24 hours can take its tool on even the most experienced and fit musicians. Experience we have, fitness....eh thats debatable. I wanted to take a minute to blog something I experienced while watching the MTV Video Music Awards, and no it has nothing to do with Kanye. Sorry Kanye...
The band didn't have the chance to watch the VMA's as they happened so I found myself watching the re-run the next day. I was actually by myself when I watched it so it was quiet and I was alone to my thoughts and that doesn't happen very often these days. As Madonna stepped up to the microphone I thought to myself, what bigger a presence in music could there be to come forth and begin to honor Michael Jackson as her.  Her speech was touching in a way I did not expect. She reminisced of a night she had asked Michael out to dinner and after they enjoyed a local restaurant they sat together on a couch and held hands as friends do, while watching a movie. What struck me about that was the fact that Michael was the one to reach over to Madonna and clasp hands. She felt at the time as if Michael was reaching out as a friend than as a love interest. At that point I thought to myself, this man who has all the fame and money in the world, sits as the king of pop, and is adored by millions worldwide, needed a friend. He needed to know that someone was there. Why, not because he was all those things, BUT BECAUSE he was all those things and above all a simple human being.
It just goes to show that we all need people. Our friends and family are what make us who we are. If we were to embrace each other the way the world embraced Michael Jackson, the world would be a much better place.

From Day 1 we have set out to embrace our fans and we want you to know how much we truly appreciate your support of RED. You guys call radio stations with your requests, spread the word about us to help create new fans, and come to see us perform all over the country. And...WE THANK YOU for embracing the music of RED...Our promise to you is that we will continue to write music that is meaningful and relevant as long as the world embraces it.

Hey Everyone,

So just an update...We have been doing mostly flydates these past couple months and we have a week long run coming up next week with Buckcherry. The "Class of 2009" tour starts Oct 27, so we will be changing some things in our live show and to do that, we need to rehearse so we will be taking a couple weeks off to that, and to also shop around for a new bus. As you may know our bus is currently up for sale because we just cant fit in the sucker. We have busted at the seams this year with the new record and there are no signs of slowing down.

This fall we are going to be reconnecting with you all in a few big and different ways. We will be launching our new website, and shifting our focus from myspace to our new site. We also will begin the next leg of video blogs that have become so popular for fans who visit us on the web. If you want to know what's going on with us on the road, like who is getting tazered in their sleep, or downing a roll of Mentos with a Diet Coke, then our new site is where you are going to see all that.
Who would like to hang with us on the bus and hear a RED song acoustic, just for you and 4 other friends? Well stay tuned and we will let you know how you can do that during the "Class of 2009" tour in every city the tour stops!

Our video for "Forever" will be coming very soon also so stay tuned

Peace,
RED

Hey everyone,

Well we hit the road hard about 8 weeks ago and just a few days ago we arrived home for a much needed week off. People always ask us how we balance music and family and honestly, sometimes we ask ourselves the same question, but the simple truth is that once you start to tour full time, you start taking things at home a lot less for granted. Family time is precious to us because we simply don't get the average amount everyone else does, but it is a good thing because it would be easy to be home every day and start to overlook the little things that keep you going.  Yesterday I went out and bought a new lawnmower and weed eater and had a blast taking care of my own yard. Home is so refreshing because you get to do normal things like that. So the next time you are hanging with your family or mowing the grass, think about us guys living out of a suitcase.  Don't get me wrong, we are seeing and experiencing things in our travels that many never will, but friends and family are something we all can relate too because we all have them.

Other than that, it was a great tour with some good shows and we made some new friends.  Thanks to all of you who came out to rock. RED fans have become intertwined into our lives and we are thankful that you guys are a part of the fun. Every night we have the best seat in the house. We get to see your smiles and rock and roll horns every night and that keeps us going!

A few Innocence & Instinct Reviews

USA Today (Feb. 10, 2009)

"On its sophomore album, this Nashville nü-metal band tightens its sound, hoping to build on radio hits Breathe Into Me and Already Over. Wrapping strings and electronic loops around tenacious riffs and guttural vocals, Red searches for epic sweep inside the spiritual struggles of Fight Inside and Death of Me, while a cover of Duran Duran's Ordinary World offers some necessary melodic and structural variety."

Billboard Magazine (Jan. 31, 2009)

"Nashville's Red has come out swinging in 2009, giving new album Innocence & Instinct (Feb. 10) a walloping head-start with lead single "Death of Me." The multitextured track crackles with snappy hooks....without sacrificing authoritative rock power."

Nashville MetroMix (Feb. 5-12, 2009)

Nashville rockers end their silence

"...Fans have been salivating over [Innocence & Instinct]'s release, and judging by the latest single, the epic growl-rock symphony "Death of Me," they won't be disappointed."

EMBED THE IMEEM RED PLAYLIST - USE THIS CODE

Friday, January 30, 2009
Red is quickly becoming a phenomenon, one in which I have had no problem being a part of. In a move reminiscent of Trent Reznor's mind-numbing prerelease games for Nine Inch Nails' Year Zero, the sophomore effort of Red was built up with a number of twisting and turning internet puzzles. For months, diehard fans of an increasingly popular band slaved over the tiniest numbers or messages, all just to find out a little bit more about Innocence and Instinct. Maybe they're all just crazy, but after Red's stellar 2006 debut End of Silence, can you really blame them?

It's worth mentioning that Red is unlike anything you've heard before, a pure hard rock band with glorious electronic showerings and powerful vocals that range from beautiful melody to emotional screams. It won't take long for you to realize just what you've been missing if you aren't already a member of Red nation, because "Fight Inside" kicks out your speakers after one of the band's signature electronic intros. The guitars kick in shortly after to compliment the backbeat, and by the time you hear the crisp vocals, you'll be sold on Red's style. "Fight Inside" is hardly Red's catchiest track, but it's powerful both in sound and message, and if you don't figure out that Red's a Christian band right away, you're not alone.

Lead single "Death of Me" isn't close to Red's catchiest work either, but it should be mentioned that Red does not pride themselves on catchy hooks, but on intense and emotional music. In similar vein to the opening track, "Death of Me" rings out with raging guitars and clean electronic beats, with a faded out vocal accompanying on the verses. The chorus may take a couple of spins to get ingrained in your head, but it will be worth it when you find yourself singing to "But I'm still bleeding and you'll be the death of me."

I may be ranting a bit on the first two tracks so I'll make some more concise points with the rest of this. "Mystery of You" is that hook you've been looking for if you're not yet sold on Red, and "Start Again" will be sure to keep you locked into your headphones. Innocence and Instinct isn't about headbanging, thought it's certainly welcome, but more about the tone and edginess of the music. A dark and ethereal tone drips through every bit of Innocence and Instinct, yet the songs bring message of everything from hope to despair. "Never Be The Same" echoes both of these as crazy as that seems, and I'll never forget the raw passion of the bridge lines "No, stay, nothing compares to you...I can't let you go."

It's increasingly harder to avoid going on with great length about each song, largely because every song brings it's own unique traits, breaking free of perhaps the only weakness of Red's debut. Even a cover of Duran Duran's "Ordinary World" shakes off any kind of mold that Red may have used to make Innocence and Instinct, and it's certainly easy to notice throughout that not a single song is the same. On my first listen I was barely focused on the CD at all, but managed to notice every time a song changed. It's very hard to find an album like that at any time. From the harmonies of "Shadows" to the gritty "Out From Under", not one track falls far below the rest.

I hate perfect scores, and almost never give them away without great thought, but it's so damn hard to find a flaw in Red's second effort. The production is out of this world, the instrumentation is not legendary, but more than fits the sound of the band, and the lyrics are masterful. This isn't a blatant Christian record, you'd never know Red was one of those bands without serious thought. The biggest flaw has to be that Innocence and Instinct has only 10 tracks, but picking up the deluxe edition will fix that problem, and even without spending money, this disc never feels shortened or incomplete. Quite simply, it's everything that manic fanbase could have hoped for and more, which pleases this crazy fan quite a bit.

The Point - Innocence and Instinct is brilliant in every way, with virtually no flaws. The powerful emotion of the record is top notch, and the band has more than enough chops to pull it off. If Red isn't established as one of the top bands in their genre after this record, there is no justice in this world. Buy this record.

GRAMMY-nominated modern rock band RED made R&R history this week as its first radio single "Fight Inside" from its sophomore album, Innocence & Instinct debuted at No. 1 on the R&R CR chart. Never, in the history of the magazine and the chart, has anyone accomplished this incredible feat.

"Christian Radio has been such a backbone for our band," comments Jasen Rauch, Red's guitarist and primary songwriter. "We are so overwhelmed by the support they continue to give us, we are so humbled to even have a No. 1 never dreaming we would make history by debuting there. Thank you for your never ending support. We are truly blessed."

Radio stations across the country were ready to add the single as soon as it hit their desks and can't say enough about the song. "There hasn't been this much anticipation for a new single from an artist in years," said Joey Belville, KLYT/Albuquerque. "The new Red album is going to rule, and even though nobody's heard it.everybody knows it."

Chris Goodwin, Program Dirctor for KVRK/Dallas-Fort Worth said, "Fight inside is the highest tested song we've had since we debuted our Music Poll page on our website this year. 92% of the hundreds of listeners that voted chose the "like it" option."

The GRAMMY-nominated modern rock band RED will continue to tour the U.S. with Puddle of Mudd through November, after which it will perform radio shows through the end of the year. Its upcoming sophomore release, INNOCENCE & INSTINCT, drops on February 10, 2009, via Essential Records. The disc features 10 songs, including its first single "Fight Inside." Simultaneously, Red will release a Deluxe Edition of INNOCENCE & INSTINCT loaded with extra content including four bonus tracks, the "Death of Me" music video, a "making of" documentary and more.

The Nashville-based group, made up of JASEN RAUCH (guitars), MICHAEL BARNES (vocals), ANTHONY ARMSTRONG (guitar) and RANDY ARMSTRONG (bass), has logged an impressive 500+ live shows since releasing its End Of Silence debut album in 2006 and are giving fans a taste of its new music while on the road in late 2008.

RED made an immediate impact with its 2006 debut, End of Silence, which sold more than a quarter-million copies and earned several awards and nominations. The GRAMMY-nominated disc-featuring the radio hits "Breathe Into Me" (No. 1 , Christian Rock & Top 10, Active Rock), "Break Me Down" (No.1, Christian Rock), "Already Over" (No. 1, Christian Rock & Top 15, Active Rock), "Let Go" (No. 1, Christian Rock & Top 15, Active Rock) and "Lost" (No.1, Christian Rock) - introduced the sonic layering, rich orchestration and visceral dynamics that became RED's signature sound. The album steadily built momentum, cracking the Billboard Top 200 a year after its release. Not surprisingly, the album became a hit with other bands as well, leading to tours and shows with Papa Roach, Sevendust, Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, Buckcherry, Puddle Of Mudd, Staind, Seether, Disciple, Third Day and Switchfoot, among others.
