In January Joan had the extreme pleasure of traveling to Washington, DC, for the inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama. She also performed at the Peace Ball, one of the many balls held in Washington for the occasion. In case you haven't seen them on Joan's website, here's a bunch of photos from her trip.

Also, on the website we've recently posted Merch Man Jim Stewart's tour diary from last Fall's UK/Europe/US tour. There's many photos included, and we've even updated the fan photos page!

Hello Everyone,

Joan had the good fortune to be in the Alexandria, Virginia, area for the U.S. Presidential Election. On the night previous to the election, she appeared at a Barack Obama rally. On the evening of the election, she hosted a party in her hotel room for her band and crew. After the announcement of Senator Obama's victory, the whole group headed out to the streets clad in their hotel bathrobes (clothed underneath!) and caught cabs to the downtown Washington, DC, area. They ended up in front of the White House, along with thousands of others. On the morning after the election, Joan and her band went over to the Obama headquarters in Alexandria, where they did a mini private concert for the volunteers preparing to close up shop. She treated them to a set that included "Poor Wayfaring Stranger," "Gracias A La Vida," "Long Black Veil," "We Shall Overcome," "Catch the Wind" and "Imagine." Joan's UK/Europe tour has finished up, with a couple of amazing performances in Spain and at the Cambridge Folk Festival. As soon as Merch Man Jim Stewart's tour diary is posted on the website, we'll let you know. There will be lots of new pics, too! This will pretty much wrap up touring for 2007, as Joan prepares to head to the studio late this year to record her next CD.

One thing to watch for in the weeks/months ahead is Joan's version of "Little Boxes" on the Showtime series "Weeds." We don't know exactly which episode the song will play on yet, but if and when we do, we'll let you know.

Joan's tour of the UK and Europe begins tomorrow, June 28th, and continues through July 28th, winding up at the Cambridge Folk Festiival. Be sure to check the tour schedule, and don't miss this chance to see her if you can! She'll be back touring in the U.S. next year.

Joan's current tour finishes up today (4/2) in Prague, Czech Republic. She'll be back in the U.K. and Europe in the summer, but for now you can read part one of the tour diary by Jim Stewart (our merchandise manager).
