About the Play
, "Marx in ..Soho..,"
written by Howard Zinn:

Agitating the authorities of the afterlife to clear his name, Karl Marx is   sent to earth for one hour to make his case. Bureaucracies are the same in   heaven as on earth though, and due to a clerical error, Marx lands in ..Santa Monica.. ..California.. rather   than his stomping grounds in Soho ....London.....   Not daunted, Marx launches into a passionate, funny and moving defense of his   life and political ideas in Howard Zinn's brilliant, timely play "Marx   In ..Soho..."

Featuring Bob Weick as Marx

"(Weick) captured Marx and his ideas with the proper strength and   subtlety, moving very effectively through a range of moods: humorous, angry,   poignant. We admired Weick's transitions, change of pace, the nuances of   feeling. In short, I am very happy with what Bob has done. He (John Doyle)   directed the play brilliantly ."
Howard Zinn
Author - Marx in Soho and The People's History of The ....United States....

"...nothing short of brilliant and continually engaging. It was   fascinating to observe Weick's easy shift through a variety of moods:   ebullience, frustration, guilt, remorse, embarrassment and heartbreaking   sadness.powerful, funny. moving, illuminating, and thought provoking!...An   impassioned Weick rises to this occasion, and though it's obvious he is   speaking as Marx, the sentiments are clearly Zinn's."
Douglas Keating
Philadelphia Inquirer

NEW RECORD SET AT 52ND GRAMMY AWARDS

THE MOST BY A FEMALE ARTIST IN A SINGLE AWARDS YEAR

At this year's 52nd Annual GRAMMY® Awards on Jan. 31, Beyoncé set a new record for most wins by a female in a single awards year, walking away with six GRAMMY Awards.  The previous record holders for female wins were Lauryn Hill (41st GRAMMY Awards in 1999), Norah Jones (45th GRAMMY Awards in 2003) and Alison Krauss (51st GRAMMY Awards in 2009) with five. Beyoncé's six wins include: Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Song Of The Year and Best R&B Song for "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" (the latter two with Thaddis Harrell, Terius Nash & Christopher Stewart), Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Halo," Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for "At Last," and Best Contemporary R&B Album for I Am…Sasha Fierce. This brings her total GRAMMY wins to 16, making her the third most awarded female artist behind Alison Krauss (26) and Aretha Franklin (18). Video of Beyoncé's performance on the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards currently is available for download on iTunes.com/Target, along with 10 other performances (the Black Eyed Peas, Mary J. Blige/Andrea Bocelli, Bon Jovi/Jennifer Nettles, Zac Brown Band/Leon Russell, Green Day, Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga/Elton John, Dave Matthews Band, Maxwell, and P!nk) from this year's highly successful telecast.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?  If you are new to the industry, currently working or an experienced pro, NEVER have you experienced anything like VOICE 2010 (well unless you joined us for our VoiceLympics Cruise (2011 soon to be announced).  This event is an overwhelming experience to be among hundreds of people with a passion equal to yours (seriously).  The energy alone is worth coming for, not to mention 4 days with TOP coaches (including yours truly), industry experts, voice talent, excellent seminars and panels from very well respected professionals in the industry.

Here are a small list of benefits
- Networking
- Education
- Technology
- Secrets revealed
- Marketing
- Meeting some of the top in their field
- Join me for a 90 minute hands on seminar on the ONLINE world of Voice
- Work with coaches privately (select coaches only)
- Having fun and so much more!

If you have already registered, let them know that you were referred by Deb Munro.  If you still haven’t registered please use the direct link below.  They are keeping track of referrals so this will be a great help.  Register soon before another possible price increase.  Hotel rooms still available at the Hotel Location – Hyatt Regency in Beverly Hills

http://voiceacting.com/dap/a?....a=694

We will see you in JUNE 2010.  Come find me and say hi!  My daughter Brandi and assistant Leah Cevoli will be manning the Mic n Me exhibition booth so be sure to stop by and let us know who you are.

Private sessions with me will be available but you must book your session in advance.  We must have all sessions confirmed by mid may.  Please contact me ASAP to book your private session at some point within the seminar (we can book in a way so that you won’t miss any of your break out sessions).

James Alburger/Penny Abshire and the entire Voice 2010 team have gone to a lot of trouble to put this extraordinaire event together.  We hope to see you there.  REGISTER NOW!

Tom Logan – LA Director – ACTING workshop in Vancouver –          EVERY VOICE TALENT has to learn to act!

This is one of my favorite coaches.  When I sought out to find my coaching team Tom was my first stop and he taught me more than most have.  What I learned from Tom (that I would like you to experience first hand) was how to have confidence in the audition and the casting room.  He not only works on amazing acting techniques that will have you transformed over 3 incredible workshop days but he tells it like it is.  No sugar coating here!  Tom will tell you what the directors want.  What they don’t like, what will get you cast and what will get you laughed at.

I have never experienced another class like this and I ENCOURAGE EVERY ONE OF YOU to take this workshop.  It is very rare I request you to take a specific workshop, especially an on camera, but this one is rare and will help you in a way that Voice workshops cannot

This is WORTH TRAVELLING for.  It has been some time since Tom taught in Vancouver and we are honored to have him

Trust in me for this one

Earn free movies – help Deb earn even more!
On a side note – I am an avid movie goer.  Here in Canada and perhaps elsewhere, we have something called a SCENE card.  You are entitled to tremendous discounts at CinePlex movie theatres and various participating stores.  This card is free and earns you free movies every time you use it.  This month they have a refer a friend program (the obviously don’t realize how big my network is LOL).  I could earn tons of free movies if you sign up.  I assure you this is only a benefit and worth joining.  Here is the info they sent to me.  Go to www.scene.ca to create your scene account.

..

..

You will earn 100 SCENE points for every friend you refer (up to a maximum of 5 friends), if your friend opens a SCENE account before February 27th, 2010. In addition, you will earn an additional 400 bonus SCENE points if your friend uses his/her SCENE card to earn SCENE points either by purchasing a ticket to a film at a Cineplex theatre or purchasing a DVD at the Cineplex Store, located at www.cineplex.com, within 30 days from the date on which he/she opened their SCENE account. For additional information and full terms and conditions, see the website for more details.

GRAMMY® WINNERS SAM MOORE AND NE-YO

TO PERFORM AT 2010 GRAMMY CELEBRATION®

DJ Mick Boogie, GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles and the Jon Batiste Band
Also Scheduled to Participate

Chef to the Stars Wolfgang Puck to Cater and Along Came Mary Productions to Produce
The Recording Academy®'s Official GRAMMY Awards After-Party at the
Los Angeles Convention   Center on Jan. 31

LOS ANGELES (Jan. 28, 2010) — DJ Mick Boogie, the Jon Batiste Band (featuring Eddie Barbash, Jonathan Batiste, Philip Kuehn, Matt Marantz, and Joe Saylor), soul singer and GRAMMY®  winner Sam Moore, R&B sensation and three-time GRAMMY winner Ne-Yo, and the GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles will perform at the 2010 GRAMMY Celebration®, an exclusive invitation-only event. This year's star-studded soiree will take guests on a festive journey through a modern twist on a circus theme and will be catered by chef extraordinaire Wolfgang Puck and produced by Along Came Mary Productions. One of the year's most anticipated events attracting GRAMMY winners, nominees and celebrities, the 2010 GRAMMY Celebration will take place at the Los   Angeles Convention Center on Jan. 31 immediately following the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards.

"The GRAMMY Awards are an international extravaganza that celebrates the past year in music, but the festivities don't end there," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy®. "With exquisite cuisine and incredible performances, the after-party will be a memorable and extraordinary way to commemorate the success of Music's Biggest Night®."

"As the only official GRAMMY Awards after-party, we pride ourselves in making the GRAMMY Celebration the year's most unforgettable event through our innovative design and amazing musical performances," said Branden Chapman, Vice President of Production and Process Management for The Recording Academy. "We are extremely fortunate and excited to collaborate with such incredibly talented partners. It takes much skill, innovation and ability to produce a party of this magnitude and we are privileged to work with the best in the industry."

Wolfgang Puck has crafted a custom menu that will be enjoyed by the 5,000 guests expected to attend the celebration. The menu will include an All-American Bistro  (herb crusted rack of lamb with rosemary-mint jus, pan-roasted chicken with natural jus, garlic potato puree and shrimp louie with avocado panna cotta.); Asian flavors (garlic candy shrimp with jasmine rice, chinese chicken salad with crispy wontons and sesame honey dressing, sliced szechwan style rib eye and spicy string bean salad with cashews and tofu); tastes of New Orleans Jazz (cane syrup and bourbon glazed pork loin with creole mustard sauce, gumbo ya-ya with chicken, shrimp and andouille sausage, whipped yams with vanilla bourbon butter and spicy candied pecans and slow braised collared greens with tabasco fried onions), and an iced seafood station (chilled shrimp and crab claws, cocktail sauce and spicy mustard). Delicious sweets will include chocolate truffle cakes, caramel apple tarts, devil's food cupcakes with marshmallow frosting, caramel popcorn balls, baby lemon meringue tarts, and assorted colored cotton candy.

Once again The Recording Academy has partnered with Along Came Mary Productions, who will orchestrate the 2010 GRAMMY Celebration and oversee all of the event production and other logistics. The event will transport guests through a three-ring circus as it reinvents the vast Los Angeles Convention Center West Hall into a surreal experience. Acrobats, stilt-walkers and contortionists will be found throughout the space with featured acts performing in each of the main three-rings. The lighting, performances and décor will evolve throughout the event with each hour highlighting a different concept of a guest's visit to a circus. A second event space within the party, Petree Hall, will double as a jazz lounge with a design that evokes images of a clown funhouse.

MasterCard Worldwide is proud to deliver a priceless musical experience with artists set to perform on the MasterCard stage, as well as in the MasterCard Jazz Lounge. Performances will include the Jon Batiste Band, presented by Jazz at Lincoln  Center, as well as the GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles. Waste Management, for the second year, returns as sponsor of the after-party and will once again host a lounge within the celebration. Additionally, in keeping with The Academy's greening initiative, Waste Management will collect all recyclable materials from the celebration. A variety of Hard Rock's memorabilia will be on display at the celebration for guests to enjoy such as a Michael Jackson fedora hat, Elton John Mardi-Gras head dress, Madonna clown costume, and a birthday cake dress worn by Katy Perry. Hard Rock Cafe has also been a great supporter of The Recording Academy's Chapter GRAMMY Telecast Viewing Parties for four years, and will host viewing parties in nine of our Chapter cities.

Spirits, wines and beer will be provided by Patrón Tequila, Ultimat Vodka, Pyrat Rum, Forest Glen Wines, Domaine Laurier Champagne, and Anheuser-Busch Beer. Beverages at the event will once again be provided by Pepsi.

As part of The Academy's ongoing greening efforts, Wolfgang Puck Catering will be using locally grown produce, dairy and meat, sourcing environmentally sustainable packaging — compostable, biodegradable and recyclable products — and donating any unused/leftover food to Angel Harvest, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that organizes the collection and delivery of the food and items to local social service agencies providing emergency food for those in need.

GRAMMY® winner Earl Wild was a remarkable classical pianist with an innate gift and a pure passion for his art. We are proud and humbled that his last public performance was at our 2008 GRAMMY Salute To Classical Music® event at Walt Disney Concert Hall, where he was an honoree and received the President’s Merit Award. He was predestined to take his place among the great pianists of the world, and his work will be forever remembered and revered by generations to come. SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Jan. 25, 2010) — For the first time in its history, The Recording Academy® (www.grammy.com) is incorporating an unprecedented volume of digital and social media campaign elements in celebration of the 52nd Annual GRAMMY® Awards, airing live on CBS Jan. 31, 8 — 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. In addition to launching its FanBuzz Visualizer (a real-time barometer of GRAMMY-nominated artists with the most social media buzz) and "We're All Fans" ad campaign (www.wereallfans.com harnesses the power of social media and its unique ability to directly connect fans and artists), The Recording Academy has designed its entire digital campaign recognizing that music fans discover, share and consume content in a radically different way today. This enhanced effort will provide music lovers an unprecedented opportunity to experience and participate in Music's Biggest Night®.

"We are starting to establish a strong and engaging presence in the digital space, and the multiple other ambitious initiatives we are rolling out represents just the beginning of a life-size mosaic in the digital world," said Peter Anton, Vice President, Digital Media, The Recording Academy. "We want to offer music lovers a higher level of interaction with the GRAMMY brand on GRAMMY.com, and across our social media channels including new and exciting digital applications that they've never before experienced, resulting in a much more meaningful connection."

GRAMMY Live!

GRAMMY Live! — a robust experience leveraging the power of streaming technologies to provide a deeper fan experience on all things GRAMMY — is a 72-hour participatory online broadcast featuring live videos, photos, blogging and micro-blogging, official news reports, and personalized updates from three mobile GRAMMY vloggers. The festivities will kick off Friday, Jan. 29, 2:30 p.m. PST with The Academy's Social Media Rock Stars Summit at The GRAMMY Museum®.

GRAMMY.com/Blogging

The GRAMMYs' new "Blogger Program" on GRAMMY.com sets the bar high for this year's show by allowing a handful of Best New Artist winners and nominees to blog first hand about their amazing experiences from Nominations to the Awards telecast. Other participants include the official artist of the 52nd GRAMMY Awards Shepard Fairey (contemporary artist and creator of Obey Giant); contributing editor to Rolling Stone, Huffington Post blogger and Emmy®-nominated TV and GRAMMY writer David Wild; and a variety of genre-specific music bloggers.

The Blogger Program reflects only one aspect of the new GRAMMY.com, which now empowers fans to view, share and discuss hours of archived video footage and photos. A live countdown clock to the telecast also appears on the site and is available as a widget.
